wildebeest
Hello fellow Toyota Motorhomers, I've been looking for a furnace to put in my '91 Dolphin and found an Atwood on Craigslist for $100. The owner can only tell me that it is a 1995, it works well, and came from a small camper. The model # is not listed on it, only a serial number. It looks like it's in great shape from photos. Mainly, I'm wondering if much has changed with the Atwood since 1995...pilot light vs electric, amp usage, etc? Or if there's anything else I should be concernaed about? My Dolphin came without a furnace so I have no experience with these little heaters. Any advice or input is appreciated. Thanks!
linda s
Hmm. In 1991 a furnace was standard equipment. I've never seen a Dolphin that year without one. What model do you have. Or was your furnace removed by a previous owner Linda S
wildebeest
Yes, Linda, a previous owner removed the furnace and converter. Gotta get some heat in there for ski season.
linda s
I don't think you will have a problem with the atwood as long as you measure carefully and make sure it fits the space. Just for reference your Dolphin came with a 16,000 BTU furnace. I can't find the exact model though. Maybe someone here will have that info Linda S
wildebeest
Thanks Linda. I'm going to go for it. Will be a little gamble not knowing the BTU's. Hopefully it's not too high and doesn't lead to rapid cycling. Guess I'll either end up saving a few hundred bucks or reselling it and buying a new one. After that it'll be time for an inverter charger.
