Roof Weight Capacity

Hey Everybody,

I am planning on buying a dolpin (budget of around $10,000) but have a question. I am an avid kayaker and want to be able to load my boats on top. I am 67 years old, 5'9" 160 lbs and my wife is 5'4" 120 lbs. The boats weigh less than 50 lbs each. My questions are as follows:

1. What is the weight capacity for dolphin roof?

2. Is there a factory rack?

3. Do people have recommendations on what to install?

4. Will the roof support my weight to when I'm strapping the boat down?

Thanks for the help. If people have a lead on a clean, low mileage dolphin, please let me know.

I would be saving that $10,000 for my attorney if I posted what my wife weighs on the internet...

you can put kayaks or canoes up there just fine. Bufbooth even has a post here that shows that you can build a roof rack for you canoes/kayaks.

or you could do it like i did; I made a rear rack that has them stand verticle in a bumper mounted hitch receiver; that way no roof walking. I'll find the thread and post

you need an owners manual. bet there are some around this site somewhere. I have a winnie warrior - my manual says 250 lb man on top while working, 100 lbs cargo underway.

while others are less strong and walking on can damage the roof material.
