sdboltdude Posted April 23, 2013 Share Posted April 23, 2013 has anyone done a db test while running generator ? the forestry reg is 60db at 50ft I tried this camping this weekend using a win.8 phone app.. we where in a remote camp site so no other back ground noise I have a Onan 4200 portable genset tested while ac was on tested at 50ft my db reading was 56 db max 53db avg not sure how accurate phone app is... Vanman Posted April 23, 2013 Share Posted April 23, 2013 Our Onan 2.8 microlite was installed by National RV in a compartmenr with the exhaust directed down and is pretty quiet. I have not measured it but have been told at campgrounds by others that they think it's quiet. How it's installed has some bearing on overall noise level but the Onans seem to be pretty reasonable for noise but mine drinks from the Toyota gas tank and you can tell it's been run the next time you start the Toyota and look at the gas gage.
