Stove doesn't work in '82 Dolphin - solved?

Hi cats and kittens and folks, greetings and salutations to my relatives through owning a Toyota Motor Home. Love my little hobbit house, as my mother calls it. Purchasing this was possibly the single best decision this idiot has ever made. I love it. Got this home about six months ago and noticed the stove (oven) was remarkably clean inside, as though IT HAD NEVER BEEN USED. ....and thought nothing of it, retired air force brainiac who worked on defense systems on the B1B maybe never needed it right? ....soooo time goes by and I try to light the oven a month later and the thermocouple will only open the gas valve (saying yes the pilot is lit) when I hold a bic-type lighter on it until my fingers are burning off-then click sound, burner lights. retract my hand from fire, click, burner goes out. After trying to move the thermocouple and its accompanying flame diffuser closer to the pilot light I give up and apply plant-based salve and think on it awhile. One month later at 1:30 A.M. I try again, this time removing the immaculate oven rack and the thing over the burner tube-equally immaculate. I notice with the flashight small metal chips amid the dust in the corner on the forward port side. Nothing has EVER been cooked in here! ....CLEAN AS A WHISTLE. ...weird. ..(scratching head)....Heat and flame the pilot look good as far as size and color, but they go up and the diffuser (my term for the thing) and thermocouple are below....yep, you got it. The gas burner pipe and its holder for the t-couple and diffuser are mounted upside down, and the small removeable panel at the back is flipped too! I hope Not going out tonight, turning off the gas and then messing with this job that should only take ten minutes tops. ...But its a great theory, right? I'll post tomorrow. (and ramble less we hope)

I hope that you are able to get the oven working. It is nice to set up camp and throw some take-and-bake bread in the oven to go with your supper. My adult children that camped all over the country in our pop-up think that their mom and I are living pretty big with the RV. They are envious of us cooking frozen pizza while we are camping.

I am sheepishly wondering if mine is upside down too. The guys that built these things must have been drunk... Mine works now after i rengineered the thermo into the flame but maybe it was just upside down?
