mini-wini-dan
Is there a timing belt or timing chain? My wini has 74,000 miles is a timing belt a concern?
Derek up North
Timing chain. If you can't hear it rattling, you're good to go!
86rader
You have a chain, but, being a later model, it is the single row, rather than the double row which was used in earlier years. The single row is not as reliable as the double row, but it was cheaper to make. you should be fine, however. there are some issues with guides wearing and tensioners not working properly, but, I don't know enough to explain them in any detail. Lee & Joan
The single row chain has a history of lasting about 225 K miles before the plastic guide breaks off and drops down into the crank gear. I just replaced the $8 plastic guide on my 86 22R Truck @ about 235 K miles, chain still good, but guide had broken off right where the mounting hole hold it to the block. There is a trick to getting the guides in without removing the entire front of the engine.
