GregAlbert
Recently I bought a 1986 22' Dolphin with the 22re engine. I can't get better than 13 mpg although I have changed the air filter, PCV, and spark plugs. Any ideas on how to improve the mpg? I usually set the cc at 60 and engage overdrive. Shoprat
Howdy , GregAlbert. Try dropping the speed down to 50 - 55 m.p.h. At 60 mph a wall of air developes in front of the vehicle so that your trying to move 4 times the air volume than you do at 50. Can make a real difference ! knowltondata
Just curious, had a guy over there ask almost the exact question over there a few weeks ago and I pointed him this way.

I get about the same, 13 to 15 mpg. Overdrive may actually use more gas, maybe someone else can comment on that.
Dirk
Seems like it could be lots of stuff....engine, transmission (clutch/converter slippage), gear ratios, tire size, vehicle weight, a combo of all of the above, etc. Best to start cheap and work your way up.
