Raymond
I Will be replacing my ceiling once the roof is level. Plan to keep it that way with some metal bracing, want it strong when I get up there or replace the AC. What is the best material to use for a ceiling. I was thinking 1/4" plywood would make it stronger. Was looking at some stuff that is plastic and has bumps all over it. Often noticed it in bathrooms when I travel. Going to run 120 and 12v to each vent site and to several other places that I think could use power. One other question, is there a fan made that will fit into the vents with out spending an arm and a leg. More like 80.00 and not 300 like some of the vent fans. Maineah
I replaced the bathroom fan in mine with a 5" 12 volt computer fan 50% less noise and less then 1/5th the power draw. I just mounted it to the frame for the crank up cross bar. I would think two fans would move a fair amount of air the 5" ones only draw about .3 of an amp and are only about $15. Derek up North
More like 80.00 and not 300 like some of the vent fans. Is $99 more like $80? http://cgi.ebay.com/...sQ5fAccessories Or if your vent's in good shape, just a fan (179cfm):- http://cgi.ebay.com/...sQ5fAccessories
Raymond
Thanks to both of you, just what I wanted.
craige
I own the vortex fan and installed it in the bathroom. It is very loud. Only good while showering or using the bathroom. I have the fantastic fan above the bed and recomend it for the cabin area. The fan I have blows in or out which I would recommend.
Derek up North
I've no experience with the Vortex. My Fan-tastic is nice and quiet.
Gulfstream Greg
Here is a Shure Flow fan on eBay http://cgi.ebay.com/...sQ5fAccessories also here is the really cheapo ventline fan on eBay, they are noisy though http://cgi.ebay.com/...sQ5fAccessories I did a search for RV fan. My suggestion is one that is a variable speed fan. I have both a fantastic vent and a northern breeze. The fantastic has 3 speed settings and is fairly loud on the slowest setting when your in a quiet area. The northern breeze is variable and can be turned down to where you can almost not hear it. The shureflow above says its variable speed, not sure though if the eBay price is competitive with RV parts houses though. Here is the SHure Flow site info http://www.shurflo.c...ault.html#tab02
Derek up North
I started to write:- "It would be nice if someone had done side by side comparisons of air flow, noise and power consumed by the major players, but I certainly haven't come across it yet." Then I decided to do a bit of Googling. http://www.airforums...rflo-34777.html No figures to document it, but SOTP is better than nothing. Maxx at least gives some 'numbers'. http://www.maxxair.com/maxxfan.html http://www.maxxair.com/turbo-maxx.html
