Yes there is an altitude switch but it will stay out until you are below about 3500' It will shift a lot if you are trying to use it in the hills or below 50 on flat ground. When it starts to shift up and down turn it off until you are going faster or get out on flatter ground. Beyond that there are some things that can cause it to shift in and out.
