bufbooth
Hello All, I will be hosting the 4th Annual Midwest Toyota Rally in Knoxville, Illinois the first weekend of October. The rally will be at least three days (Friday October 1st to Sunday October 3th), but will probably be adding two additional days to it depending on interest and activites, probably September 30th and October 4th. If you have an interest please contact me and I will put you on my email mailing list. Information from last year is located at: www.tipton-in.com/mwtoyin2009/ Thank you, Dennis Booth bufbooth@yahoo.com
bufbooth
Hello All, Just realized that May is already here and that means that October is just around the corner. I would like to start the Midwest 2010 Toyota Rally email contact list in order to be able to get a feel on how many are planning on attending, to be able easier communicate with each interested party, and to be able to take suggestions for activities and improvements. Please send me an email indicating if you are planning on attending or are hoping to attend, along with how many in your party, including kids ages (so I can plan some kid activities), what year/model Toyota, and what state you will be traveling from, along with any suggestions. Thank you, Dennis Booth bufbooth@yahoo.com
dogre
Dennis, Can you give me some help in how I stage a rally in the area of Sisters, OR in Octoburrrr? I have attended one of Tika's events so I have some idea of what to expect to do. I am looking at the weekend of October 9 & 10. I hope to find some BLM land so costs are minimal. This is the weekend of the annual Sisters Harvest Faire. How do I post this on the calendar? Your suggestions will be greatly appreciated. bufbooth
Hello Dave, Create an one page write-up and send it to: folks@toyotamotorhomes.com asking for it to be posted. Also, Post a message under this section, and post a message in the Yahoo Toyota Camper group. Anyone that is setup for email will receive your posting. Also, under Yahoo Toyota Camper group, you can setup a Poll (ie. Would you like to attend a Sisters, OR Oct 9th/10th Toyin), this will allow you to start gathering email contacts of interested parties. Once you get everything in place, send out a monthly reminder. It is my experience that you end up with half of the number of folks that are highly interested in attending, just too many things can happen in a few months. Also, there is a Toyota map that I need to dig up, it has Toyota owners posted all over the US along with email contact. I would recommend to directly contact each one in a one to two state radius. You could also post a Toyota Rally notice in Craigslist from time to time. Ask everyone that has an interest to send you an email so you can build an email contact list so that you can sent out details to them. You may want to BCC (and state that in advance) the emails in case folks do not want to share their email address. Ask them if they are pretty sure on attending or just currently interested. About 80% that state pretty sure will probably end up attending. Let everyone be responsible for any camping fees, otherwise you might be on the hook for some no-shows. Set a dead-line to make the reservations, one month in advance should be good and state it is needed to secure a block of sites together, otherwise you will end up being spread out. Once you get near your deadline, you need to verify with the campground on a weekly basis on who has made reservations and send reminder emails out. I would directly contact those that stated 'pretty sure" on attending until they make a reservation or tell you they are no longer attending. Be prepared to lose 2 or 3 the day or two before the rally, things happen at the last minute. Once you get everything posted, things with slowly start to happen. You can contact me directly at bufbooth@yahoo.com if you like. Later, Dennis... Dennis, Can you give me some help in how I stage a rally in the area of Sisters, OR in Octoburrrr? bufbooth
Hello All, So far we have 7 confirmed reservations, 5 stating Yes, but resevations not made yet, and 9 maybes (waiting on schedule to finalize due to work/family events). As a result, the 15 attendee estimate is looking pretty good right now, with the possibility of being as high as 21. Dennis...

bufbooth
Hello All, The Midwest 2010 Toyota Rally was blast!!! It was down to the last hour, but we hit the 15 Toyota number! This keeps up the grow by 4 pattern over the last four years, 3, 7, 11, and 15. We just need to get 19 Toyotas for next year! A special thanks goes out to Bill Haas (and his wife) for attending, they got their Toyota out of the shop on Thursday evening, talk about pack and run! The weather was rain free...okay rain free during the day, we ended up with a few hours of rain on Friday night, but all was clear by 7am. I posted a few photos and a quicktime video of a steam of Toyotas driving by. The video was a last minute thought which was not fully thought through, my wife was doing the video and as a result got left behind... My wife made a Toyota 2010 Rally Quilt as a door prize and the Rubrights ended up winning it, they are new Toyota owners of a 1990 Itasca Spirit. At the attached URL are a few pictures and quicktime video: http://www.tipton-in.com/mwtoyin2010/ Dennis Booth
