Vicki
We just purchased an '84 Granville Dolphin. Does anyone have information on the rear axle problem and what should be done about it? We want to take it to Alaska from Indiana next spring and have heard horror stories about the rear axle breaking
shandamac
Hi Vicki, Welcome to the forum!!!! First of all, you'll need to assess what kind of "rearend" your new motorhome has. Does it have 5 lugs or 6? Are you sure it's the original chassis light duty rearend or has it been already modified? This forum is chocked full of past posts regarding the rear axle issue and suggestions on where and how and what. I was able to post pictures of my rear wheels, and these guys set me straight. Maybe you can do that too if there's any question. Shanda
gmichaelz
Hello Vicki: Welcome to the world of ToyHome Owners. First, as Shanda mentioned in her post located above, you need to determine if your ToyHome already has the Toyota replacement 1 ton, 6 lug, dual wheel, outer bearing axel rear already installed? There are many helpful threads at this site to help you answer this question. Here are a few recent links to get you started: http://www.toyotamotorhomes.com/files/Axle_FAQ.pdf" target="_blank">http://www.toyotamotorhomes.com/files/Axle_FAQ.pdf</a> http://toyotamotorhome.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=2271" target="_blank">http://toyotamotorhome.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=2271</a> http://toyotamotorhome.org/forums/index.php?autocom=gallery&req=si&img=1677" target="_blank">http://toyotamotorhome.org/forums/index.ph...si&img=1677</a> Hope you enjoy your Alaskan experience.
