  1. OK, i have a confession. You might have guessed it but I am an old hippy by heart. I spent a lot of my life traveling this beautiful country. And.......I'm a big ass bumper sticker / decal freak to. I want to "customize" my Toy to reflect my interest. This way I can create what I want and have them made for a pretty cheap price. That is the real idea behind this posting. I just whipped out another one and have already ordered it too. He he he he. For The Flower Child In You
  2. I was just playing around in Photoshop and wanted to share. I have some other Ideas that I want to add to this as I get more time. Anyone is welcome to use the artwork and share. If you want larger or different versions just contact me. Here is a link that some of you may like and before you ask, on this site I don't make hardly squat ....literally just pennies. So this is not a money thing for me. It's all just for fun. Toyota Micro Mini Motorhomes The Original Tiny Home
  3. I agree with Linda......be very careful. And why the fish eye photos? Can't really tell anything with crappy photos like that. If the guy doesnt co-operate and send real picks and supply vin.......well that might be your sign.
  4. I finally just said to heck with it and took off down the road on my first outing in "Red Emerald". I can't even begin to express how proud I am of the little Toyota motorhome. Not one single hitch what-so-ever. It was just and over nighter or weekender and I was using abundant caution and care. Watched my speed (below 60 mph) and monitored the tranny for any bad signs and didn't spot a single problem. So besides being a lot of fun and very comfortable it was also a big confidence builder too. Look forward to many more trips now. Here is a video: The Alltamaha WMA / Harris Neck NWR Road Trip
  5. Just my two cents thrown in here. I have to agree with "bicoastal eric". I have lived in small spaces full time for over 15 years now. Five sailboats and three rvs later I can verify eric's thoughts that lots of money is lots of waste. Period. I have always had a solar system and always used a small 500 watt microwave (walmart). I have used one 200 watt (or smaller) panel, cheap controller from West Marine (sunforce), 10 gauge wire, 4 matching marine deep cell batteries and a 1500 continual 3000 surge watt inverter. That's it. Easy peasy. A couple of notes: unless the roof is rotten the weight of the panel will not be a factor. A solar panel will charge in the shade. The distance from panel to battery needs to be withing 10 feet to be efficient. Portable panels have dramatic loss of efficiency unless you just like toting your battery(s) around. Solar systems are only difficult and expensive if you make them that way. Final note: my systems have always be able to run a small (-3.5 cubic feet) mini fridge also without the thermal fan kicking on. The microwave was always the biggest gobbler so only used it sparingly. I always used only led lighting.
  6. If you can afford it (you get what you pay for) take a good look at this. It will be going on my rig soon. Its just down the list right now because of front to back maintenance issues since I just bought the motorhome. This comes from personal experience. I have bought six of these, four sailboats that I have owned and one for a travel trailer and one for a friends boat. This is the cats meow of wifi for the mobile lifestyle. 7. Just went through the same problem yesterday. I'm a new Toyota motorhome owner myself. The one key I got with the vehicle was actually bent a little and had a crack in it. I got it bent straight and took it to home depot for a copy. Three tries and not good. Wouldn't even go in my door lock at all. I was terrified that I was going to break it the more people that screwed with it and just gave up on the box store dummies. Took it to a "real" key maker, aka lock smith. Had two perfect keys in 15 minutes and they didn't need anything but the key, no vin numbers, no codes, not jack. Just do it. Lock Smith.
  8. Great Link. I think that should cover everything on my truck. It's going into my "Toy" file. Thanks.
  9. Man that sounds high tech......hope I don't have to go there.
  10. So Ive been digging around on this site and on the web for repair manuals for my Toyota. My truck being the 6 cyl 3.0 has made it even harder. Haven't really found anything here. Most of it dead-ended to files that no longer existed or didn't apply. What I really was hoping to find was the original Toyota Shop manual for my 1990 in PDF form. Forget it!! Well I have found a few good links that I wanted to share with you guys. That being said I am really careful about what I click on on the internet. The links I am going to share I have already checked out and are good. I have also found out that there are only a couple of countries that do not call our Toyota's "Hilux". Most of the world even to this day call them "HiLux". Anyway hope this may help someone and save you some leg-work too. This one is probably not going to help most folks but you never know. It is the diesel version of our engines: Toyota Diesel 2L & 3L Engines This one is really nice and it covers everything from 1990-1995 and more goodies too:Everything Toyota Truck 1990-1995 Plus This one has too much good stuff to list, from 1985-2005 mostly all the "Hilux" Toyota Truck: Everything Toyota Truck ( Hilux also ) Enjoy the reading and Cheers !!!!
  11. Got the tires today. The "SimpleTire" site is excellent. Easy to use, got what I ordered and in less than 4 days as promised. And there was a holiday in those four days. Now to mount them and see how long they last.
  12. You have a point "jjrbus". Never thought of it that way. It had been sitting for four years.
  13. Don't Let The Excitement Kill Your Dreams..... ......or don't be stupid like me. I have worked on motors all my life. Yesterday I took my first good look under the hood of my new ToyHome. When I went to purchase the ToyHome I was so excited about just sealing the deal and getting it home that I did not follow due diligence. I just hopped in and drove the sixty miles home, and then 20 more miles to store it away in storage. As I was making my maintenance list, photographing and looking around the Itasca yesterday I was slapped across the mug with the stupid hand. Right in front of my face was one of the most nastiest engine Gremlins one could encounter. It was in the form of a V-Groove belt. It had lost about two thirds of the width of the belt, was frayed and dry rotted. Just sitting there looking at me and asking; "How could you be so stupid?" Be very wary of The Grimlins !!!!

1-9-17 On the way to put the motorhome into a secure storage area until maintenance can be done. And research can be done to figure out just exactly what I had just bought.
  15. Hello everyone. I'm new here and just thought I would jump into the fray. I just purchased a 1990 Itasca Spirit 21'. i originally was was just going to flip it because I got such a nice deal on it and I "thought" I wanted something bigger. But fell in love with it on the first day. It isn't spotless clean but it is in really good condition throughout. the only rough area is the graffics ( decals ). So I am going to hang onto her. And I will soon be full time in her. I'm the adventurous sort. Will try to get some pics of it up soon. Anyway, back to the topic. I don't have lots of money, very tight budget but I am starting to go thru the maintenance on it. First off is replacing all four rear tires. They are horrible to the point I am afraid to drive it now. The front were already replaced. So I guess this is for those money misers like me. I'll be your guinea pig, huckleberry or what ever. I am ordering a tire that I have not heard mentioned on here. It is from a website called Simpletire.com I ordered today and they were shipped today and the tracking says here by end of day on 1-17-17. Never used this site but am very impressed so far. Ill keep you guys up to date on the performance. Here is a link to the tire I purchased: https://simpletire.com/eldorado-185-r14c-th0304-tires Oh yeah, total cost plus shipping was $247.00 and meet all Winnebago requirements. Cheers, RedEmerald
