  1. Finally! Found a replacement tank! And someone who knew what they were talking about. After filling out several diagrams with dimensions and pictures, and emailing to vendors who said they'd get right back to me--but none did--I found this company in Michigan. http://www.gastankrenu.net/index.html Knowledgeable, service oriented, delivered on-time and as promised. Good value. Good job. Warranty.
  2. Mechanics of a rough ride aside, I hate to tell you that Oklahoma (my home) has some of the roughest highways in the nation! I'm a recently-retired motorcoach operator and my passengers used to tell me they could always tell when they were getting close to home: The condition of the roads.
  3. Well, I couldn't get the Toyota RV I wanted so I settled for a Winnebago Minnie Winnie. Now I find that I need a gas tank. (Punishment for straying, perhaps)? The original polyethylene tank is cracked in one of the upper corners. Someone tried to repair it but failed and while I'm aware there are ways to repair a polyethylene tank, I would not want to attempt it on a gasoline tank. My Minnie is a 1977, Model MW25CD, on a 1977 Dodge MB 400 chassis according to the Dodge VIN. The tank has a Chrysler part number: 4031474. It has a supplier code number: 93799B. It indicates it was manufactured by Chemplex but the only Chemplex I can find online manufactures chemicals, not tanks. Any help would sure be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  4. It got away. He sold it two days ago. Thanks to all of you for your input. I'll be back.
  5. Thanks, ctgriffi. Good info. None of the interior pix shows the roof line, so really can't tell without seeing it. Plan to do that in a couple of days. And thanks for the tip on head gasket issue. Knew about the timing belt.
  6. Sorry jdemaris, mistyped the mileage. 75k. I do understand the RV body not being a Toyota.
  7. I've found this 1989 22 ft Odyssey Americana for sale in my area. Six cyl with 75k miles. Any thoughts certainly welcome. They're asking $5k. Reasonable? Thanks in advance for your input. I've always been happy with our Toyota cars and pickups and hope the same would extend to the camper products. (Edited: should have said 75k not 7k).
  8. Good reading, Derek up North. Thanks for your help and info. To be honest, I'm a little disappointed because I was looking forward to joining the "club" of Toyota RV owners. I am going to inquire of the current owner, but I feel like he probably still has the dangerous rear axle.
  9. Thanks for the quick response, Derek up North. Would that be a deal killer to you or might it be worth looking into a replacement axle? And is there a replacement?
  10. I'm looking at this 1980 Toyota RV online and wonder if anyone can enlighten me as to what model it is and any good/bad reviews. This was the only picture of the unit and I don't see any i.d. as to model. I'm a retired mechanic (as much retired as a mechanic with a family can be) and am tempted by the info I've read on these Toyota RVs to get me one and dig in. I'm even more enthused now that I seem to have found a site full of helpers. Thanks for your help. (Edit: Just found another picture).
