  1. Tire manufacturer's vary on tire life 7 to 10 years. I will not travel on tires over 7 years old, only my opinion which was formed by listening to knowledgeable people. I just bought my toy and 5 of the tires are 14 years old and 2 are 7 years old. I blew one 14 year old tire on the way home after buying unit. I would not even use these tires for a spare! There are a couple threads, one is on GoForm tires and another on valve stems in this section. I went with the GoForm tires and spent a total of $550 for 7 new tires mounted and balanced with new valve stems. This did require some effort and running around on my part. If you are not acquainted with dual wheels, valve stems can be an issue when trying to check or air up tires. If you have had dual wheels then you know : ) I learned this lesson the hard way! Good Luck JIm SW FL
  2. I was eying this' Would be easier to sell. 2.5 CFM 1 Stage Rotary Vane Deep Vacuum Pump Refrigerant AC Air Condition HVAC Seller : taztool (115163 ) 99.1% Positive feedback Follow this seller |See other items | Visit store: Taz Tool Item Information Item condition: New Quantity: More than 10 available / 110 sold Was: US $79.99 You save: $5.60 (7% off) Price: US $74.39 and there is a manifold gauge set for $28 including shipping. It is to the point a tool can be used one time and thrown away. Of course some of them need to be thrown away after one use! JIm SW FL
  3. I did not know the system could be pressurized! I have been watching Craigslist for a vacuum pump and manifold, hate to buy another tool, but if I could sell them when I am done, might be worth it. Pressurizing should not be that hard? I have the soap and water mixed up I am checking the air bags for leaks. JIm SW FL
  4. The stems arrived today and of course it is raining all day, so I got wet. They look like the originals, I took 3 tires and wheels to the local tire place and was told $20 mount and balance and $5 to install my stems! $75, seems a touch high. I took them to WalMart and was told $12.50 a tire including balancing and stems. I am OK with that. But they do not have the right adaptor to balance them, so they had one mounted and gave me everything back no charge. They refered me to the Spanish place where I should have went first. I go to a Spanish place for flat repair, if the boss lady is not there no one speaks English, so I was avoiding it. They were happy to mount 2 tires, install stems and balance all 3 for $30, they are happy I am happy. They were good about working with me on the stem placement. Hopefully tomorrow I can get 2 more done in between the rain drops. JIm SW FL
  5. Thanks for the responses, Part numbers and all, I'm impressed. I've done some reading and it is all confusing. The condensor on this does not look good, so will add that to any parts replacement. Replaceing 20 year old hoses seems like a good investment. This system is empty, must be leaking! Now I am in the afraid to look at anything phase, scared I will find something else wrong. Thanks JIm SW FL
  6. 93 Toyota Seabreeze, 6 cyl auto. The AC system in the cab does not work, I missed that it is R12. Anyone have suggestions on successful AC repairs. Better to stick with R12 or convert to 134a. If you converted to 134a are you satisfied with it and approximate cost? Any input, ideas, suggestions, thoughts or wisecracks greatly appreciated. JIm SW FL
  7. Poopies! I have been concerned about the valve stems being install properly! I had just about convinced myself that I was making much ado about nothing and just being one those nobody can do it right anymore old men! I have the tires and wheels off and will attempt to break the bead and install them myself, before I take them for mounting and balancing. I am thinking the O ring should have a bit of silicone grease also? Thanks for posting. JIm SW FL
  8. After trying different valve stems I decided that the original stems are the way to go. A bit more expensive but by changing my inflator, they are the easiest to use! Thanks to Linda S I ordered http://www.ebay.com/...=p2054897.l4275 , They are in town and will be delivered tomorrow, so will only be 2 weeks to change tires! I have had bad experiences with valve extensions and will not use them. Plus the cost of proper stems is balanced by not buying extensions. I know many people use extensions with no problems, but I am not one of them. Plus on the Toy the extension hid a broken valve stem, when I unscrewed the extension the end of the stem came with it. Was this the cause of my blowout? I do not know. This is the end of a tire pressure gauge, it works well on the original stems, I need to find an inflator of the same configuration. Also need to remember to align valve stems when I reinstall wheels, also the duals need to be the same side to side. Then there is looking into inflate through valve stem caps. I do not know if these are a good idea or not yet? JIm SW FL
  9. I suspect the wanting to buy people are actually wanting to steal. I know of one instance where the asking price was $9900 and the wanting to buy guy offered $4000! JIm SW FL
  10. I liked the layout of the Rialta, but the prices are ridiculous and repairs and parts are out of hand. The final straw for me was someone on a trip needed a transmission rebuilt, the transmission was $5000 and they were told they could pick it up in the spring!! The money is bad enough, but come back in the spring, not what I want to deal with. Looking at the Toy if I could install 2 captains chairs where the sofa is would be ideal for me, the ability to transport 4 adults in comfort. Plus nice comfortable seat's for the wife and I. But there is that pesky water tank. I am in a holding pattern here waiting for various things to be delivered so decided to do some experimenting. I explored various areas and looked at what was available in sized tanks for reasonable money. I hoped to upgrade to a 30 gallon tank, but would have to spend far more on a tank than an extra 10 gallons is worth. I settled on a surplus 21 gallon tank with fittings for $40 that will fit the available space. I built a mock up of the tank and it appears to be a good fit. I now need to fabricate something to hold the tank and route some plumbing to it. But will wait until the tank is delivered to be double sure. This could all blow up in my face as I do not have a super computer with CAD to help me along. However it will not be the first time I have made a mess. Any thoughts, ideas, input, suggestions, wise cracks always greatly appreciated. JIm SW FL
  11. I have no useful info to add, this is far above my skill level. But I am enjoying your posts and pictures and appreciate the time and effort you are putting into posting them. I do have an eye out for trans plant potential seats for mine, but it is way down the list. Thanks JIm SW FL
  12. It would be a personal prefference, I lived 10 years fulltime in a bus conversion without an oven. Without a microwave would be difficult for me. JIm SW FL
  13. I have mixed feelings about what I paid. But it is the best one I could find in Florida without spending $10,000. Plus at $10,000 tires need to be replaced, AC, fridge, water heater, furnace ect are 20 years old and replacemnt is emminent. If you mean in the front by drivers area, no that was done by previous owner. I do not like it at all, the full size pillowtop mattress is way too thick for that area. I would like to put that back to original. Thanks for the responses JIm
  14. I paid $5500. Seems like a lot of money? JIm
  15. 94 Seabreeze 6cyl auto 97,000 mi Camper is in generally good condition, no rust, rot or leaks. When I first entered it I thought the ceiling had been replaced, but is original. Someone did some remodeling and left several things unfinished, wireing, plumbing etc. I do not like what was done over cab area nor the full size matteress. Roof AC is marginal, no genset, refrigerator works on 110, frunace and water heater are unknown condition.Everything appears to be original equipment, except converter must have went bad as there is a external one installed. JIm SW FL
  16. The search for valve stems has gotten a little out of hand. Hard to believe that something so simple is so difficult, but I refuse to have difficult stems like I did last time. I have spent too much time on the internet and running to parts stores, trying different valves and I am tired of the toy sitting on a jack stand. Plus my friend will want his floor jack back someday. I stopped at the Toyota dealer on the way home on my last trip and they were $15 each! I experimented with different inflators on the original valves and they are fine with the right inflator. I ordered 4 of the ones Linda S posted http://Toyota 1 Ton Truck V6 #9094205026 and three others from another Ebay dealer in hopes one order might show up quicker. They are stating delivery between Feb 12 and 17th. Thanks for all the input on this it is always greatly appreciated. JIm SW FL
  17. The hammer tone may have been a wise choice! I did mine in aluminum color and does not look good at all. JIm SW FL
  18. The ones I orderd from NAPA are the TR544d. I did a test fit on the duals and can see where this valve would be hard to use on the inside dual. I am not pushed for time so will check some more and hopefully find something better at a reasonable cost. Any input, suggestions, thoughts or wise cracks greatly appreciated. JIm SW FL
  19. Found this on the internet for anyone that is interested. Expireing minds need to know : ) The selection of valve hardware is based on wheel type, wheel size, and tire air pressure specification. Most of today's valves are made out of brass because it is corrosion resistant and can easily be bent to facilitate servicing. http://www.truckinginfo.com/article/story/2011/08/what-you-need-to-know-about-tire-valves.aspx HTH JIm SW FL
  20. The M+S threw me. A long time ago in a land far away : ) The summer tires would be put away and the winter tires would come out and then in spring the summer tires would be put back on. Now there seems to be M+S tires that are not winter tires! According to the internet real winter tires are marked with a mountain with a snowflake in it. A winter tire would not hold up well in FL. JIm SW FL
  21. Thanks for all the input. I stopped at NAPA today for valve stems. They did not have any in stock so they ordered some for me. I do not recall price but close to $6, with a $13 list price! I do not want to use extensions of any kind. I came close to losing a $400 tire on my motorhome a few years ago, because a big buck fancy SS extension leaked. This time the tire that blew had a 3" solid extension. The tire valve stem was cracked in the threads by the shrader valve. It was not noticeable untill I removed the extension. I do not believe it leaked and caused the blowout, but still? I thought that the brass valves were bendable?? Again thanks for all the input, always greatly appreciated. Don't they have a valve stem cap dohicky, tool? Edited, the ones they ordered will not work. JIm SW FL
  22. I ordered the tires Mon and here it is Fri afternoon and they are sitting in my Garage! They are round, they are black the DOT date code is 3614, good. The have 2 ply sidewall with 5 ply thread, OK. There is a LT marking light truck? What is the M+S for?? JIm SW FL
  23. The valve stems seem to be original equipment on my 93 Toy, so I will replace when I have new tires mounted. I am hoping someone will have some suggestions or pictures, part numbers, supplier on valve stems for the the rear duals. Or some setup that works well. JIm SW FL
  24. TIRES!! Learn to read a DOT date code. The coach I just bought had great looking tires, lots of thread and only 1 tire had some very minor weather checking. 4 of the the tires are 14 years old! I had one blowout on the way home. http://www.tirebuyer.com/education/how-to-determine-the-age-of-your-tires#.VMge2y6M63I There is some controversy weather a tire is good for 6 or 10 years, me personally 7 years max. I also had a flipper in Tampa tell me a coach had new tires, they were 6 years old with tire shine on them. Learn about tire size and load range also to make sure they are the right tires! HTH JIm SW FL
  25. When I was tring to clean grout I found that Oxyclean is active for up to 6 hours if kept wet. Soaking for up to 6 hours will remove even tough stains and odors. I have done my socks like this many times and it does no damage to the material. There are better Enzyme type products for urine odors. I tried the cheaper Oxy look alikes and they leave a horrible residue, stay away from them. I read it on the internet so it must be true? JIm SW FL
