  1. I have a 82 b2200 sundowner 4 cyl diesel as my daily driver. Same truck different badges, I love that truck ! So cool to see it with a camper on it ! Post more pics !! - Welcome !
  2. The cross members are not factory. I did put a bit of a crown in the top or them to help with the water shed on the roof. A vibrating blade multi tool was my saving grace for the restore. I also had to cut some screws because i could not access the head
  3. The cabinets in your motorhome are built outside of the unit on production line then installed after all interior panels are in. my experience with the cabs in my 83 dolphin is they all come out in one piece. The ceiling cabinets find all the screws attaching it to your roof rafters and wall studs & remove. You will need to remove the inner bottom cab skin on the inside to get access to screws and wires. For all the electrical things just cut your wire close to your light or speaker @ the original splice and pull wire thru cabinet chase and leave for re install. The metal grate that attach to counter top and bottom of cabinet can get removed also and either painted and re installed or go with something more creative to hold up your cabinets. In my toyhome i installed aluminum supports to take out a bad sag in the original ceiling then finished it off with some birch breadboard check out my project there are picks on ceiling renovation too http://s1379.photobucket.com/user/Andrew_Jahnke/media/IMG_1900_zpsa324ecb7.jpg.html
  4. This stuff works wonders on stripping silicone caulking & will not strip paint off the metal. I have done every seam on my rig and this saved me time in the areas i wanted to clean but not strip. http://www.mckanica.com/index.php?page=shop.browse&category_id=9&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=32&vmcchk=1&Itemid=45
  5. Great to hear good things about the webber carb. Just put one on my toy home 1982 22r. Any advice on the carb would be great !!! Did you re gear the dually axle ? or just swap the recalled one ? Enjoy the trip !
  6. check out my Dolphin journey so far http://s1379.photobucket.com/user/Andrew_Jahnke/library/
  7. When i got my 1982 DD i sat down and though of everything i could spare and what i intended to use the rig for. weight is everything when designing your space. also going through every butyl seal and replacing it to keep all your hard work inside clean and dry. For my rig the most common place for rot is under the skirt behind the rear wheels and of course the cabover. if your screws do not hold rot is obvious. You want a water tight seal and all your flashing is going to come in handy to hold butyl or caulk down and water out. Maybe in your situation you can glue and clamp it ?? always make sure you have fresh surface when laying lap sealant. wire wheel on a drill takes off years of caulk on the roof and no need to worry about scratches up there. post more photos and questions !
  8. here are some pic update on the project. the interior is all skinned up and countertop cut out. I have the desk and closet framed out. I got tired of carpentry so i went into the engine bay. Removed all the smog equipment on the 22r and got the LCE block off plate kit on there. pulled out the carb and replaced it with a weber while cleaning everything in the process. Removed electric choke and put a manual one in. pulled the valve cover and found an amazingly fresh cam and rocker assembly all within spec. Re torqued head bolts according to the FSM. I discovered that my engine is a true 1982 !!!! Last year toyota put on the double timing sprocket and chain with the metal guides !!! YAYA here are all the pics !!! http://s1379.photobucket.com/user/Andrew_Jahnke/library/
  9. Lassen National park is like a mini yellowstone in northern california. amazing trails to hike and no one is ever there. Bumpass hell is a must http://www.nps.gov/lavo/planyourvisit/exploring-the-hydrothermal-areas.htm
  10. Cool little info on introduction of Elk into NZ http://www.elkarama.co.nz/history.html I guess in NZ wapiti refers to crossbreed / Elk refer to pure breed, Natives in North American language Wapiti translate to White Rump or Elk will paint only cook top and trim high heat, front is stainless & nice. color no clue, worried about the metal inserts for the stove top scratching the crap outta any paint job under them. ideas always help !
  11. Just removed mine to clean out a mouse house. Two screws were holding in the whole thing, screwed into the countertop. Disconnect gas line and it slides right out the front. The vent you want to remove is held in with some sheet metal screws on the underside. I have mine disassembled for cleaning and paint. Easily can take pics of anything if needed.
  12. i have not worked much with epoxy on wood, so i guess it never crossed my mind. Im down with the concept for longevity of use in materials. wall panels will be painted for interior sealant / protection. The ceiling was pre finished clear birch. trying to make it functional and finish it soon, so the family can enjoy it.
  13. Here are some photos of the progress with the dolphin. ceiling and recessed lights are in and the first wall panel! with the bunk light lights are led and will be wired to in wall dimmer, 3 for front & 3 for rear http://s1379.photobucket.com/user/Andrew_Jahnke/slideshow/
  14. here are some pics from the day http://s1379.photobucket.com/user/Andrew_Jahnke/library/
  15. Here are some progress pictures from the weekend. 500 series - Cab over floor replaced - demo out bathroom & black water tank, cap lines to bathroom fixtures - demo upper cabinets & closet that sits over the water heater - removed celling and insulation - installed 3 roof supports 3 x 1 1/2 aluminum channel thick gauge ($10 a foot !) ow - one new wood support to replace cracked saggy 1 x 2 - blocking throughout for rigidity and to take the dips out of the roof that hold water - relocate electrical out of closet wall into smaller chase roof has improved drastically after I installed the aluminum supports. Credit goes to Bunneys and his 89 Dolphin Saggy Roof Repair. Thank you for that posting ! helped me figure out how to get it done Going to relocated shower for outdoor use at some point & leaving toilet out for this dolphin, i like the idea of no black water tank stank still trying to deiced what to do with extra room inside, going to do more storage and enlarge countertop space. maybe a little desk area to sit at. What would u do with more room ?
  16. gorilla glue and pocket screws i think gives you the best hold when scabbin into older wood sections. next i got to sheet it and rebuild the cabover bed floor, windows etc.
  17. here are some project pics. on the cabover so far. pic of the step and filler hose too that originally got me started on all this. 2 miles down the road right after i bought it Im filling the tank and gas is leaking everywhere under the home ! old pitted rubber filler neck was the source of the leak, had to rip open some plywood to get at it, simple repair. cabover is a little more involved tho. putting the black water tank together today to re mount it w/ new straps & fittings !
  18. Renovating my 82 Dolphin this summer and could use some advice on how to repair the rot in the cab over portion. ive rebuild the entry step and re welded the aluminum door frame. took out black water tank for new straps and all new fittings/ grommets. It all looks like really simple to repair but leme know what to look out for ! and what to replace wile your tearing it apart and have things exposed. mods or upgrades !
