    Hello again

Ive got a feeling that his dolphin is up for sale as there is a very nice 3 litre for sale on eBay uk, I'm sure his was a 3 litre.
  2. Just saying hi again after a long absence due to health issues but all ok now and back to using the toy (and the ongoing repairs) so will be back on a regular basis form now on
  3. Just a side by side comparison.
  4. So a few hours and a few lengths of timber and everything is solid again. The outside trims screwed up and sealed. New insulation in and bed base in and screwed down which has stiffened it all up. I've done away with the lift out panel over the cab as we always left it in place anyway so made sense. Bit of a tidy up to do then new faced ply to the walls. All told it's been easier than I expected, I thought I would have to take out windows etc but it's all solid from the bottom of the windows up which probably means the windows have been leaking and caused the rot. Will reseal them next fine day we have. I hope this rebuild may be of use to someone someday.
  5. So what started as investigating the two side walls has now spread to the whole front above the cab, in a way it actually makes the job a little easier. Instead of patching the sides it is going to be much easier to frame up and put a new bed base in which will become part of the structure. All the rot has been removed and ready for new timber tomorrow.
  6. The thing that struck me was how flimsy the construction is, ok I know it's to save weight but virtually no framework and what is there is only 1x3/4 and all put together with staples.......... Millions of them.
  7. Well a bit more cleaning up then built a 2x3/4 frame and screwed it all up, I will dismantle and glue it all up tomorrow put insulation back in then a new panel. So far about 4 hours and £6 (about $10) then on to the other side.
  8. Hi again not been here for a while, a poor summer here in the UK means the camper hasn't been out much at all. So yesterday I decided to investigate a couple of small soft patches in the side walls above the cab, well as you can imagine the job just got bigger and bigger but I'm not too worried a good day should see both sides done.
  9. With the camper part taken off and a long bed pick up rear would make it very saleable, would fetch £2500 easily, but think you should rebuild. If and when mine gets past repairing I've already decided that I will turn it into a custom pickup.

    Air Bags.

The bags I got had one bolt on the bottom and two on the top plus the air connection and the originals only had one top and bottom, it was quite easy to adapt. So far they have brought me half way down France in relative comfort and no roll on hairpin bends though they are inflated to 60 psi which seems about right.

    Air Bags.

Hey Derek they're exactly the ones I got.
  12. Finally found somewhere to get Firestone 9000's in the UK without having to rob a bank first, fitted them yesterday and what a transformation in the ride, it still shakes it still rattles but it rolls beautifully. See what I did there :-))) any one in the UK needs these or any other bags just contact and I'll give you the contact, £160 for a pair with all fittings and new air hose when cheapest I've seen one bag is £125.
  13. Silly question piecacake but does yours have any blue on it ? I looked at one for sale in Leicester last year that was blue n cream ?
  14. Hi jd wouldn't dream of using coil overs as main suspension on something so heavy only as an aid to the leaf springs, I do like the bag set up you've fitted though.
  15. Hey Linda still here not been up to much on the dolphin as our winters mean work stops on them in October November and generally start again march time, I have done work inside with the aid of a good fan heater, I have replaced the fridge, and re done the floor covering. Just got back from a 5 day run out in it and can confirm that dolphins will do 80 mph on the motorway though not something I will be repeating too often. Only job planned soon is the airbags being replaced before we venture into France later this summer. Was thinking of coil over air shocks instead of bags, I put them on my 51 chevy and they transformed the ride. Welcome to piecacake another member of the small uk contingent, we will be chatting no doubt.
  16. Ahhh hindsite a wonderful thing Derek, replaced it with a domestic compressor fridge/freezer from currys, can run it off electric hook up or from 12v via a 300watt inverter and it's very quiet. But nice to have the larger freezer.
  17. I attempted to remove the refrigerator today as it hasn't worked for a while, pretty much had to completely disassemble it inside. They must have built the body around the appliances, luckily the one replacing it goes through the door.
  18. Came across this ad today for a 92 dolphin with 3.0 auto 42000 miles @ £7500 about 12000 $
  19. 59 here in the uk (60 in feb) wife 56 been married 37 years and we have always camped or had a motorhome of some description.
  20. You might just be right but the wall is soft at the bottom of the drivers side large window so water has been getting in somewhere and it's not obvious where from but the sealer down the front of the window doesn't look cleaver, it looks like someone at some time has dug it out and put some other sealant in and maybe caused a leak so maybe only that window will come out.
  21. Well I'm back after a few days away in the dolphin, it absolutely poured with rain the whole time but I'm really happy about that, why I hear you all ask............ Well this is the first time it's rained hard since we've had Ethel and I'm happy to report that all my resealing of skylights etc is good no leaks whatsoever so I'm a very happy bunny next job when it's under cover for winter is to take out all the windows and resealing them as it looks like they haven't been done since it was built.
  22. Noooooooooooo Linda it would cost me a fortune, the auction that is, America yes please would like to retire there but doubt if I will to afford it.
  23. Hey Randy rv swapping is a cool idea, as I've said when I saw the dolphin for the first time I was hooked nothing else was going to do. but then when you look at the other cars I have I'm maybe living on the wrong continent, I also have a 84 dodge b250 day van and 51 chevy styleline.
  24. Does anyone know the gas tank capacity for the 1987 / 900 model, the spec sheet says 17 US gallons which converts to 14.5 UK gallons however I can only ever get around £60 in from the needle showing empty which suggests 10 UK gallons or is there a large reserve befor the fuel light comes on, thanks in advance.
