  1. Wow there are as many ideals on solar stuff as there brands of cars. If there is a solar products supplier in your area I would go pick his brain nothing beats eye to eye with some one who has experience with solar panels and battery banks. Things like controllers, wire gauge you name it quite a science. Your little 15 watt panel is a good keep it alive charger while its parked but would have a hard time keeping up. 50 amps - 600 watts at 12 volts I don't think your MH roof is big enough.
  2. I like you way you think get a nice 50 watt one.
  3. http://www.rvparts4u.com/Suburban_6_gal_Replacement_Kit_p/srvp0180296.htm Might give these guys a call I believe they are selling a tank and door kit for under $40 I have replaced a Suburban tank and it's not a bad job the whole thing comes out pretty easy.
  4. www.pplmotorhomes.com $239 just a quick check maybe there is a better deal out there on the web.
  5. You can buy a brand new propane one for around $200 and use it any where.
  6. 35-40 hp wishful thinking. 1 mm - .039" "Head is an aftermarket casting, much thicker and more heavy duty than the original factory casting". Don't know what that means longer head bolts needed? different chain? sounds Chinese to me. Stick with what you got good blend of power and torque if you are looking for high HP you had better be thinking about the bottom end of the engine also. Just about any performance small displacement engine makes high HP with high RPM so in order to take advantage of the higher RPM you would have to gear your MH lower. Personally if I could do any thing to mine it would be a diesel and a 6 speed.
  7. Matt I would first try for a Toyota truck and go by the year on the Toyota sticker and not the year of the coach. probably the biggest hurtle will be the tail pipe because it maybe bent for the coach if you can get it off in one piece a good muffler shop can replicate it for you a lot of those guys are really good at bending pipes it may even be cheaper then a parts store.
  8. Sure seems like it would work you going to keep the propane one? Not much left over room in a Toy Home.
  9. Have you tried it with the MH plugged in to an outlet? If it's the stock ignitor board it only tries once and gives up. A lot of the replacement boards will try 3 times to light. Dinosaur boards seem to make a nice replacement I have one in mine and it works great. You should be able to see a spark thru the little window. The sail switch is buried you'll have to have the heater out to deal with that.
  10. I managed to get mine out its not easy and the blasted things are heavy! I think they do put all the stuff in after it's made I replaced the oven also and it went out the door with 1" to spare. It was well worth the effort uncomfortable, and it squeaked! Even if I thought having 4 people in a small camper was a good ideal I would have been embarrassed to have any one sleep on it. Mine had storage under it all ready so all I had to do was cover it with plywood and have a nice mattress made.
  11. About the only thing you would gain is a little faster battery charge and if you have a generator it would be a plus. If you used every thing in your camper at the same time you would never draw 55 amps or 45 amps for that matter. If it's only a few bucks more go for it.
  12. I did not know that! I guess I'll carry my ham license with me and say "hey guys I'm one of you"!
  13. There is a 20# tank that is meant to be mounted horizontal generally they have a gauge on them a standard bbq tank on it's side will let liquid into your lines not a good thing. Most rv stores have them not exactly cheap.
  14. Well it was more for those that just wanted to run a TV or the likes.
  15. Good question I'm not sure the "seals" do much I would say the biggest issue is plugged up drains on the out side edge of the window frames that would allow the frame to fill with water and leak inside.
  16. I can't see any reason that it wouldn't work try it, it can hurt any thing.
  17. There are only a couple of different types and it's the hinge that is different. I am assuming you are talking about the standard 14"X14" There is a larger one that was an "escape hatch" they are also available but fairly pricey. Just about any RV place should have the 14X14. Try this one they have pictures of vent covers and sizes http://rvdiscountsuppliers.com/rv-parts-vent-covers.htm
  18. newegg.com has a modified sine wave inverter on sale for 19.99 it's 800 watt peak 400 watt continuous. Biggest complaint was the fan is noisey.
  19. It may have to be loaded Greg they are temp and current tracking switchers.
  20. Sorry, it's a civic duty but.... Try NAPA for your mirrors they have both stainless and white painted.
  21. 12.4 is a lot less then a charged battery most of the 3 stage chargers start high often in excess of 14+ volts and slowly come down to a float charge. 12.4 is only about an 80% charge a full charge will be 12.7 so that means that a charger has to have a greater voltage then 12.7 usually around 13.2 just to maintain a full state of charge. As far as an amp meter in a charging situation it probably won't show you much but a volt meter will tell you all you need to know. You are doing the right thing there is some thing wrong with the charger you have proven that, the battery is fine as it will hold a 12.8 volt charge and the system if fine because it is not discharging the battery.
  22. Wow good find it must be fairly new if it's a 3,000 watt no doubt it can be installed do you really need it I guess is the question I sure like my 2.8. Rear bumper mount with it's own fuel tank? I think the 3.0 is what they call a "Camp" module Micro Lite it would make a nice gen set for your home only 120 volt though.
  23. Sorry. The best way to fix it is of course the one ton axle there is a beefed up axle but I'm not sure I would want to ride around on one. The fake dual wheels put a lot of stress on the axles as there is only one bearing on the 1/2 tonne axle so it has a tendency to flex the axle.
  24. I live in Maine near the White Mountains and Conway NH I would love to get some thing going here in south western Maine. I own 80 acres of land and I would be glad to open it for a Toy-In or I could work with a camp ground a mile away that is right on the Saco river with all the hook ups. So if we could get enough interest going I would be glad to follow through.
  25. Absolutely, I don’t think I would want to go 75 in any 30 year old motor home! Even if you stuffed a 300 HP V8 in it, it still is going to turn some thing close to 4 grand at 75! Slow down enjoy the ride your 4 cylinder will get you where you are going pretty much the same time you would get there with the V8.
