  1. I'm having difficulties getting my hydro flame furnace to fire up (it lights 1 in 20 attempts) and I'm also looking for the elusive sail switch. I think that may be the culprit.
  2. I'm also using a 500w inverter to run/charge my laptop. I can only charge the battery via the cigarette lighter, but to actually use and charge the laptop I have to be connected directly to the battery.
  3. I purchased my Toy because of I can work on the common fixes (both in the home and mechanical), the fiberglass, MPG, it was in my price range, reliability, and I like cool unique things.
  4. Timmy, I have to give you a lot of credit for living in your Toy, in Alaska during the winter. I'm in north Florida and it was in the mid 30's last night and since my furnace is having issues it was chilly in my Toy last night.
  5. Thanks everyone for your input! Since I needed something with at least 2500w (to run AC I'm in Fl.) and money unfortunately is an issue I ended up getting the Champion 4000w (really a 3500w). I have run it for over 30 hours now and haven't had a problem. Well actually I did have a problem trying to change the oil. The drain plug is right above a support beam and when you try to drain the oil it hits the beam and runs EVERYWHERE! You can either get a shallow pan to collect the oil since the capacity is only about 1/2 quart, but that is a pain and can still be messy. I called their customer service and they promptly sent me (for free) a hose to attach to the drain hole. No problem now. Yes it is noisy, but I'm going to enclose it and that should make it about as loud as a Honda. I'll keep you posted on how it works out and maybe even get some pictures once I build the enclosure.
  6. Hi everyone, Add me to the list - 46 yo with dog companion in 21' Sunrader.
  7. karincorbin - Thanks for the info! Lots of good ideas.
  8. Please remember I'm new to the RV thing. How are you all plugging your laptop into the DC? My outlets don't work unless I'm plugged into an electrical source. By the way this would be a good thread on it's own.
  9. I would be a member of this "club". On 11/5/2012 I went from a 2 bedroom, 1 bath duplex into my 21' Sunrader. It has been interesting trying to downsize and get all my gear to fit, but I actually enjoy the smaller space since I find it more manageable. Since I work from home (now the RV) there are some issues with carrying my product and office supplies, but I’m finding that as I live in this space I’m able to fine tune things. Anyone out there carrying their office (computer, printer, product, shipping supplies with them? I would be interested in how you have your “office” and storage set up.
  10. I found this gennie on craiglist. http://jacksonville.craigslist.org/boa/3434352813.html The owner just took it to a dealer and found out that it needs a circuit board that costs about $125. Any thoughts?
  11. Derek up North - Thank you for the link that is very helpful! The previous owner purchased those. He said they are just some cheap covers he found somewhere. I agree, they do give the RV a clean look. Are you talking about the rear axle? If so, the previous owner replaced the old axle with a 1 ton, dual wheel, 6 lug axle. He also installed heavy duty shocks, extra springs and 2 air bags over the rear axle. This really helps to eliminate the "boat ride" feel when driving.

  13. Hahaha - I'm having that problem as well. Do not have a gennie yet so if I'm not connected to electric in some form I have about 2.5 hours of computer time and I work on the internet so that isn't much time. I'm presently looking into getting a generator (See my post Looking for a GOOD low price generator). .
  14. I thought I had read a thread about this already, but I couldn't find it again so sorry if this has already been discussed. I'm looking for a good, low priced generator. It appears that I will need at least a 3000w to run the AC and a couple of other things at the same time. I know everyone really likes the Honda's and Yamaha's, but honestly at this time I can't afford the price. Something around $500 - $800 would be great. Is it possible to get a cheap generator and put an after market muffler on it to quite it downGood? Any information is appreciated. Thanks!
  15. I have been using Clear for about 2 months now. When it works it is an excellent and economical internet solution for not only your phone, but you can also use it for a tablet or laptop (I use a laptop) with it. WHEN IT WORKS is the problem. At this time coverage is extremely spotty, mostly urban areas only. http://www.clear.com/plans/mobile/?intcmp=home:t1-a:plans-mobile You can also buy the router system that can provide wifi to up to 8 other devices.
  16. I recently purchased this little beauty. A 1983 21' Sunrader with 22R, 4 speed manual transmission. The interior and exterior are in very good to excellent condition considering she's 29 years old. I will add some more photographs in the next few days. I'm downsizing from a house and still trying to get all my gear to fit, so any interior pictures would be stacked boxes. I'm a newbie so any advice is always welcome. Anyone with a similar RV please email or friend me.
