  1. I like the americana a lot but i feel for long term value people recognize the sunrader name more. They are both nice.
  2. It is not efi. It is tbi. You can get it I believe in you. When you get it say I get it. When I say efi it means efi not throttle injection. Mpfi port injection.
  3. I had an 89 nissan truck it was extremely reliable. I have a 85 toyota motorhome and its yeara ahead of it in terms of technology. Thats what happened in the car biz in the 80s toyota took over. Nissan went down the tubes and eventually was bought. If you can grasp it thats cool I think most people can. Now when we look at 00 used motorhmes someday it could be a different story I honestly dont know.
  4. Ya tbi is not the same as port injection. Efi is still used on todays cars. Tbi was a marketing thing they used to sell older engine technology in the 80s to call it injected. Most people werent fooled which is why it is defunct. Efi offers a large improvement in power and economy and reliability of carburators but tbi does not. It is essentially just an injector going through a carburator... I know you guys arent big car buffs but most people do understand what efi is and hopefully you do now as well.
  5. It is however throttle body injection not efi like a 22re Im sure I said this but toyota was many years ahead of its competitors in the 80s
  6. I would not want a propane only motorhome because I would not want the possibility of running out and carrying a tank. Dual fuel on the other hand sounds dreamy as our gas tanks are too small anyway.
  7. Propane price is very volatile. But my entire life it has been way below gas everywhere ive lived At todays price here in san jose which is horrible do to a spike at 2.99 a gallon full retail vs 3.49 a gallon full retail for gasoline A propane conversion get better miles per dollar than any diesel conversion for a small fraction of the investment. On the other hand dual fuel would be way wiser obviously. Propane from industrial sources is dirt cheap but I cant connect you to them. It was very popular in the 90s I had a friend who did it to his econoline camper van when propane in our area was more like half the price of gas. If its always more expensive in your area I wouldnt do it lol. They can price fix propane because its not a motor fuel. Meaning they can let it never go down.
  8. If it were in the 90 nissan truck and the 84 toyota truck that would be 6 years behind and not 9. But efi would be much later in nissan or any other truck than toyotas which is why they took over the market 22r and 22re were for sale at the same time from toyota in trucks for what are we saying six years maineah. Are you still confused. I think its simple. You make assumptions they were incorrect no big deal.
  9. And its not in the nissan truck its in a 240sx. You guys are so far off and just contradicting like teenagera Maineah since there are no 88 v6 toyota motorhomes maybe your onlyvobe year off becausw they use 88 truxks in 89 motorhomes.... which is when v6 motorhomes came out. All my facts are completely straight all your contradictions are xhildish. But whoever wants to keep facts straight got the right info I didnt let it pass.
  10. fair enough but according to the dmv this was made in california by national rv 10 85. Toyotas manufacture date of the cab and chassis for 85 seems to be less exact.
  11. Unisolar . On ebay I dont have the dimensions of a chinook memorized. But the 9 foot 68 watt panel would fit. Other sizes would not but you can cut them
  12. https://z-1-scontent-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/t1/s720x720/527067_434090253293622_1345575285_n.jpg
  13. The eight that come up are two in sac one in rosevilld etc the closest to me is concord 119 dollars. Not available for delivery means you have to go to the store. When i click which store 8 come up. Michilin doesnt sell these tires here they could be old or imported. You can definitely get them. People with vw vans sell these and conti csis imported fro. The uk From there you will have to call them.
  14. I had two both vw vans they both had an oil temperature guage. The 68 was owner added and it had a huge external oil cooler Im pretty sure the 80 was stock. When it started to get hot it wasnt going to cool down until you pulled over Even to suggest that vw vans didnt overheat shows you have never had one. The reason people bypass the radiator is it heats up the fluid. It has a thermostat. Many people with temp guages show in their purpose it cools more I dont think i this case it will but well need a trans temperature guage installed to be sure
  15. Only available at sams club and the 8 stores that come up around sacramento and the bay Yokohama y356 are the only kind tire rack carries. Those are another good summer tire
  16. http://m.samsclub.com/ip/185r14c-99-97-r-rbl-michelin-4x4-agilis/149361 I already have six new tires but i ran across these. They are only available in store in the bay area and sacramento sorry p For someone who has to have a top brand. I believe these are summer tires as opposed to hankooks all season but look up th reviewz yourself. Michelin being french have more truck tires overseas
  17. Dolphinite Does your 85 dolphin have 1984 stamped on the front of the body?
  18. Ive done some reading because its come up few times But there are people that bypass water cooling for a large air cooler. Its complicated to explain. Even though water cools 32 times faster than air. Ok so theres some logic to it. Dont need to get into it But the air cooler we have is not what they use they use a big one.... I think our air cooler is not the right size and needs an upgrade We have some evidence that it will survive bypassing the rAdiator using the small external one but id say it needs a temperature guage installed I had air cooled oil in my vw and if it got hot you pulled over thats how it works. So they could have done it on purpose
  19. Totem has an 86 sunrader Ive found a lot of people with towing motorcycles on this board but no one is using the stock hitch on a dolphin without welding an extension
  20. Whereas my79 said 78 on it but it was really made in 78
  21. I dont remember what totem tows his harley with. It might be a warrior Here is an 89 sunrader towing a smart car on a dolly consider this the apex. A motorcycle much easier http://toyotamotorhome.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=3574#entry19191
  22. Its put on by national rv. Im not sure toyota says anything about what a dolphin can tow but national rv says nothing This is a bumper top hitch. Its on several hundred thousand dolphins. National rv put them there because they sold rvs
  23. So obviously the body was made in 1984 but it is an 85 claiming to be made 10 85
