  1. You now have a good reliable motor, with Timing belt, water pump, cooling system, crank seal, gaskets, etc. Should be good for at least another 100k. Take that baby out and enjoy it. John Mc 88 Dolphin 4 Auto
  2. Most of the rear square tubes are sheet metal with no structural integrity. Also, thats a lot of weight hanging out there 6 ft behind the rear wheels. I've see people put these on the front bumper, but I don't recall ever hearing of someone with a toyhouse doing it. John Mc 88 Dolphin 4 Auto
  3. I thought I wrote something up on these. I replaced all mine, they were weathered and rusted. I seem to recall total was about $80 for all 4 If I find the article I'll re-post it John Mc 88 Dolphin 4 Auto
  4. Check the winterization drains, sounds like they are open. On my Dolphin they are located under the sink near the floor, they have what looks like a small "T" Look underneath the truck and you'll probably see a short piece of hose sticking thru the floor. That connects to the bottom of the drain valve thats located inside the coach Someone with a Sunrader can probably tell you exactly where they are. John Mc 88 Dolphin 4 Auto
  5. Truck radio runs off truck battery. I installed a nice AM/FM/DVD player in the coach that runs off coach battery. great for movies or just listening to the radio. DVD player feeds video to a small LCD TV and plays the audio thru the radio speakers. John Mc 88 Dolphin 4 Auto

  7. here's a chart. adjust 1/2 the valves in one position, turn the crank 360 deg (one complete rotation of the crank is 1/2 rotation of the cam) and adjust the rest. I bet if you looked carefully, the same was true for the VW You'll need to play with the screw and the lock nut to get a feel for it. When your adjusted, the feeler should have a tiny bit of drag, and you should be able to get the feeler in there. If you do it cold, use .007 and .011 John Mc 88 Dolphin 4 Auto
  8. Not sure how yours is mounted. mine has a strap with a clip. not to bad to get in and out. http://toyotamotorhome.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=3448 John Mc 88 Dolphin 4 Auto
  9. The Marine starting battery is a compromise between marine and start.. Not as good as a deep cycle, but will work. You might consider one of the vent-less heaters. I use a Mr Buddy that I modified to run off the house propane system. John Mc 88 Dolphin 4 Auto
  10. Yours is a Horizontal tank. DO NOT use a standard BBQ tank in its place. BBQs are used vertically, yours is used horizontally. John Mc 88 Dolphin 4 Auto
  11. Valve adjust can be done when the timing mark on the crankshaft pulley is at #1TDC. You'll be able to adjust 1/2 of the valves at this position, then rotate the crank 360 degrees so the timing mark is lined up again, and you can adjust the rest of the valves. Its easiest to do this at the same time your replacing all the spark plugs (pull them all out) it makes turning the crank by hand a lot easier. As for torque, snug them up. not sure if an actual torque is listed. I don't know about your thermostat gasket, mine has a rubber ring that goes on the thermostat like the one shown in your link. thats it, just the one gasket. Mine does not use the paper gasket with the bolt holes. John Mc 88 Dolphin 4 Auto
  12. Yes, maybe run cleaner thru it, then flush with water. Get both up to temp, and make sure the heater is on full HOT with the blower running at a low speed. John Mc 88 Dolphin 4Auto
  13. Randy; Just as long as you don't put hack saw blades in the seat cushions. :-) John Mc 88 Dolphin 4 Auto
  14. Very nice. John Mc 88 Dolphin 4 Auto
  15. Personally, I didn't see anything wrong with it. It was well marked and in another folder entirely. I didn't see any abuse. but hey, its not my Forum. John Mc 88 Dolphin 4 Auto
  16. My bluish carpet is in good shape, so I left it. but the rest, paint. We played with wallpaper and finally said the heck with it. http://toyotamotorhome.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=3458 John Mc
  17. "peppy" and "Toyhuse" are never used in the same sentence. :-) John Mc 88 Dolphin 4 Auto
  18. $2,000 sounds like; "I don't really want to mess with it, but for $2,000, I will." (Hell, for 2k, i might even mess with it.) John Mc 88 Dolphin 4 Auto
  19. Rear axle (needs to be full float 1 ton) Water damage Auto Tranny rear bearing (used on 4 cyl) V6 recall complied with Tires need to be 6 or 8 ply and less than 6 years old. John Mc 88 Dolphin 4 Auto
  20. Itasca and Winnebago are one and the same manufacture. (i.e. kind of like Dolphin are Seabreeze manufacture) Before you condemn the frig, make sure your operating it correctly. The frig must be level or it won't work. On shore power, you can feel the boiler getting hot Several users have replaced the RV frig with a cheap dorm frig. There is also a 12 volt compressor frig available. If you remove the frig, cap off the propane line should be OK and shouldn't effect other appliances. John Mc 88 Dolphin 4 Auto
  21. Braking in snow / ice. = Enter your toyhouse in the Winter Bobsled races. Drive slow, leave a lot of room for braking, keep options open, (i.e. go onto shoulder, switch lanes, etc if sliding) John Mc 88 Dolphin 4 Auto
  22. Chains for the tires (One set to be installed on the outside tire of dully) Winterize the water system before you leave, and then don't use it. Use bottle water for cooking, drinking Flush toilet with windshield washer fluid Use Mr Buddy heater for heat (Modified to use coach propane system) I made window covers out of that metalized bubble-wrap stuff. John Mc 88 Dolphinj 4 Auto
  23. I always carry a 2 1/2 gallon gas can (with gas in it). I only used it once, when I intentionally ran out of gas to see specifically where it runs out of gas. I figure worst case, the 2 1/2 gallons will get me 25 - 30 miles. John Mc 88 Dolphin 4 Auto
  24. On the outside of the frame is a rubber keeper. Although it does keep water out, it is NOT a seal, Its job is to hold the glass in the frame. If you ever replace the rubber, put the seam at the bottom, and you'll never have a problem with water getting in. Over the years, the rubber gets hard and brittle, and water can start seeping in between the window and the rubber, and accumulate in the frame. The side windows have drains, but the front window does not. Drill a 1/8 hole in each corner, at the low point. the hole will be drilled in an upward direction. John Mc 88 Dolphin 4 Auto
