  1. How did you install the head unit in the existing radio slot? dash kit? I had trouble installing mine and ended up cutting the old radio brakets, drilled holes and bolted to the new head unit.
  2. Sorry it happened, sucks big time thought. Wish you tons of luck negotiating with insurances and mechanics.
  3. Thanks all for the help. The FSM I downloaded does not seem to have the detailed schematic diagram. When it stops raining, I'll crawl under the truck near the auto tranny to find out. Otherwise, I can always tap from the back of the truck and run a wire to the radio.
  4. Most definitely, I am running into the reverse wire tapping issue right now. Worst case I will run wires backward from the backup lights
  5. Does anyone know where I can tap the reverse signal for activating backup camera nearby the radio area? The factory service manual does not seem to have a comprehensive wiring diagram for the truck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
  6. What a great, simple idea. I will have to try this next time
  7. After getting tax done, I am going to install the head unit with 7" display and rear backup camera on the Itasca
  8. In moderate spring temperature, the Honda i2000eu actually runs my 13.5k btu roof air with no problem. I am not sure when the temperature goes up, would it run or not.
  9. The 3-AA battery operated lights with motion sensor (2 for $19) from Costco are very bright and warm. Motion activated sensors are very nice also. Battery seems to last. I got four of them (2 for my closets) and two for my Itasca. I'll see if I can get the brand but they are abundace at Costco
  10. Motor and transmission swap seem to be the easiest and most cost effective way
  11. I think you can install the big vent and install the retrofit fan on it.
  12. Thanks for all the tips! I will jack it up, go under, make sure measurements, loosen up with WD40 and go from there
  13. I'll be installing some HID driving lights, which probably helps driving at night. I also planning on running a new headlight wiring harness directly from the battery to reduce voltage drop, which makes the halogen headlights are not as bright as they should be. Early morning is fine with me but late night does not work as well. I like the sun flower or seed idea too...except for the clean up part, which I have a 12V vaccum handy behind the seat at all time
  14. Does anyone know if it's going to work if I order the Muffler and Pipe as shown on those online part website? I could not find any picture on what the part would look like. My 1990 Itasca exhaust pipe has lots of holes in it...time to replace and my local Muffler shop does not want to work on a MH since it's too tall to have it on the lift. Thanks
  15. I removed the battery, cleaned the area with wire brush, and sprayed with Oleum Rust protector. This area is prone to rust due to its proximity to the acidic battery and the tendency to collect water.
  16. I personally like these little lights, and it does not take much to replace them with LEDs (<$1 each) and solder them directly to the socket. Put some silicone inside the lense covers, snap them in, they will be set for a long time. I did get a warning ticket for not having sinde marker lights on my flatbed trailer in in Calif.
  17. That's right...I forgot the trailer light has dual elements. I take it back, if you can fit it in, it would work for you.
  18. Stevo, that one will not work for you since it has only one set of LED. The Toyhome and most car/truck needs 2 fillaments, one for running light and one for brake. John M.C. option is ideal but I ran out of time and did not want to wait for new bulbs arrive in the mail. With left over 36 LED that I used for interior lighting, I just solder the leads to the old sockets and secure them with ties. Seem to work okay so far.
  19. Just got that fan and it has "powered lid" when I can find some spare time...a rain sensor is all it would need to have it automatically closed when it rains...
  20. I think it's still expensive...I got those John M.C. suggested 36LED from Ebay for around $3 each shipped, used two of them on the tail lights (one for brake and one for running light), bright, cheap, and easy to solder into the non-realiable sockets. I have pictures of that but I can't upload here for some reasons.
  21. I guess my keys to get 5-6hrs. on the battery is 1) I turn of radios (Wifi/Bluetooth) while I am working so no annoying Facebook/IM...poping up and saves some battery power as well 2) I replaced with conventional HD with the Samsung SSD...lots faster and cuts down power consumtion quite a bit. Core i7, 250GB SSD, and 16GB RAM and no Window 8 (has to pay for the "Start" button) as good as it gets...I don't use the tablet mode much and it makes the screen wabble when typing...sometime I wish I got the non-tablet but I was curious for the touch screen...which the pen isn't very accurate around the edges
  22. My RV's laptop companion is a Lenovo X230T, 5-6hrs Battery life, charges my cell phone... and it can handle my 3D CAD design works! It's not for everyone but works for me so far
  23. Good stuff, thanks. I will give it a try. My local Homedepot shows 32 tubes!
  24. Great, I think vent is better than the stock bathroom vent...that thing is so noisy and I am not sure how much air it can move
  25. My experience shopping for a Toyota RV shows that often for a lowered priced RV (less than $8K), the owner is getting tired of it or no longer uses it, which means lack of maintenance and "little things" are being neglected. Which the exception of severe leak, these are bargains since those "little things" can be taken care of for next to nothing if the new owner elected to do the work him/herself. High priced range RVs ($10k and up) often show more of recent maintenance by either shop or owner and often has add-ons such as Gen/Awning...which still may required some work but generally in a better shape. Both are running similiar risk of mechanical failures so does any used mechanical devices A word of caution, be on the look out for some that do supertificial works like some caulking, painting, new fluids just to make the RV appears to be well maintained in order to sell it for higher price then what it worths
