  1. When we first purchased our 92 Warrior last summer, we thought we might do the trip, but both of us were having nightmares about it. We are thinking, again, of making the trip to Ontario this summer, to attend Ron's mother's 94th birthday and my youngest daughter's wedding. It will be a long haul, for sure, and we wonder what kind of preparations we need to make, other than saving lots of $$ beforehand, especially for gas!. We've read many positive comments to suggest these Toyota m.h.s are really good long distance travelers as long as speed is not one of the criteria. Suggestions from others who have made long treks in theirs as to what kind of preparations to make - maintenance, spares, etc. would be appreciated. Ron & Sue
  2. Hi there! Standing water, as long as it's not seeping through, is fine. It will eventually evaporate. We called Winnebago about the aluminum roof on our 1992 Warrior and they told us, "wax it", so we did and it seems to work fine.Pay attention to the edges where the sealant is to ensure no cracks appear. It's when the caulking is deteriorating that you need to repair them. Suzanne & Ron
  3. Hey! Come up to B.C. (British Columbia). The prov. gov't here charges between $16./night up to $30. for no services, extra for reservations. Guess the agreement between our "premier" and the governator included the public parks. Grounds are really nice and pretty private though and you know beforehand what you're getting, so I guess we shouldn't complain too much.
  4. Have marked off June 25 - 26 (and forward) on our calendar, so we'll be sure to be there! Looking forward to spring and cracking open the toy!

  6. Thanks for the reply, Darrell. We have a '92Toyota Winnebago Warrior with 56,000 km. (35,000 mi.). Still trying to get up the nerve to do the Vancouver. to Toronto trip next summer. People there are anxious for us to come. Especially my daughter who will be getting married Yet Again! and would love for us to attend. We would plan on leaving early August and coming home late September. Approx. 5,000 miles one way, as we have to travel in Canada. Questions: 1) What sort of things would you recommend we do before we go, maintenance wise? 2) What kind of mileage per day did you prefer? That trip to Newfoundland would be fabulous! Cooler than Louisiana though. I've only been as far as Prince Edward Island and that was years ago towing a tent trailer and four kids! Highly recommend the east coast. Suzanne & Ron
  7. What about the rally on Vancouver Island or somewhere else in B.C? Anything more happening on that one?
  8. Our Warrior is sitting idle now for the next five months. It's too cold to camp, but in a way we wish we'd kept it licensed for the winter so we could maybe just day-camp now and again.

We're still investigating the possibility of installing a larger battery compartment so we can double up on the batteries (1 to 2) 12 volt or six?

Looking forward to meeting a few membe...

  9. Debra, This is a good question. Although we haven't had a problem with ours, some of the equipment (charger, etc. and maybe a tank) is located under the darn thing, and is very difficult to access. That whole thing should be easily removed in case one needs to service anything under there. Not that we'd know where to stash it once it was out! Sue
  10. Just bought our '92 WT321 RB in July. Based on a V6 Toyota. Had 53,800km on it, then. We've gone a few more since.

  12. Darrel, No updates on your long trip since June. Hopefully you are still checking the forum occasionally. Would like to hear you arrived back home safely. We originally wanted to travel across Canada from B.C. to Ontario, but thought perhaps it was a bit too far (round trip) for both the little Warrior and for us too. Ron 'n Sue Vancouver Island, B.C.
  13. Yes we do have something to say, but in the posting section.

  14. Sorry to appear 'ignorant' but WHAT is frp?
  15. We were getting approximately 17 mpg (that's a Imperial gallon, by the way, which is slightly larger than an American gallon). Here in Canada we actually buy gas by the litre () and we're used to converting to the Imperial (larger) although that measure is not being used anymore. However that's what we're used to converting from so .... probably the number would be smaller if using the U.S. gallon ??? Confusing?
  16. We will certainly put up what we do on here. We were hoping that maybe someone might know where we could get a larger version of the same compartment. And we were also hoping we'd hear someone on the forum had already done this. We did receive a reply from another forum who said he'd enlarged the compartment using a piece of sheet metal, but gave no real intructions.other than he riveted in the new piece. I am thinking of contacting Winnibago to see if they have any suggestions. It would be nice if we knew just how much space is available under there to enlarge the compartment. Have you ever had your unit up on a hoist to look at the underneath? I'm almost afraid to do that!
  17. As you can see from the attached photos, the compartment is very, very small, with the battery put into the box from front to back lengthwise. We have measured a T-105 6V Trojan deep cycle battery and if we put two of them in - lengthwise, we would need to make the box 24" from it's current 12" (measurement approx.) Photo 1 - outside hatch for battery just left (back) of the door to inside. Photo 2 - inside hatch with battery shoved in lengthwise.
  18. Last July we bought ourselves a '92 Winnebago Warrior 321RB and we love it! Of course, it has a few short comings, one of which is only having a single battery. We'd like to add a second battery, but the compartment is too small for two. It has been suggested that we cut out the back wall of the compartment and extend it with sheet metal. Also, a recommendation has been made we use two 6V instead of 12V. We're still trying to figure out 1) how to do the extension and 2) how big should it and can it, be. Suggestions anyone?
  19. Well, being from Parksville, we are pretty much close to everything. We can definitely recommend Living Forest R.V. Resort just south of Nanaimo. For those from the U.S., the ferry from Tswassen to Duke Point on the island is very close. http://www.campingbc.com/ This park is close to those amenities and attractions mentioned by Wayne. For those wishing to go further afield, we also recommend Pacific Playground Int. http://www.pacificplaygrounds.com/ just south of Campbell River. We are retired also, so are pretty much open to whenever is decided. Hope to see all of you there! Ron 'n Sue
  20. Henry, We had a local welder make a mount consisting of two metal pieces - I should look at the darn thing to describe explicitly - that are bolted to the bumper. The are more for balancing that anything else. The main support is a piece of trailer hitch that fits into the existing one in the center and is fastened with a heavy pin and a large cotter pin. This makes the whole thing easily removed when not needed. The box is by Rubbermaid. It's #40-3055-6. at Canadian Tire. It's called a 181L Action Pack and is quite a heavy duty box, but weighs less that 100 lbs full loaded with the mount. Hope this answer gets to you. Ron 'n Sue
  21. No problem with making them secure, but venting - hey we'll have to look at that in addition to being able to get the wiring to the charger thingy under the front of the fold-down couch. Lots to think about I guess
  22. I take it from these replies that once the frig is shut down for the season you don't need to worry about leveling? We keep our leveled even when it's parked for longer periods of time. I like the idea of the rain rolling right off though.
  23. We'd love to get together somewhere in B.C. next summer. Unfortunately can't get down to Washington, but if folks would like to join up in B.C. even on Vancouver Island somewhere, that would be wonderful!
