  1. Thanx so much for the great info. Now to decide which one. I already have a Haier 19in digital TV with DVD that has served me well, when hooked up to shoreline power. Looks like the smaller ones have their own rechargable batterypack. Hmm.... Decisions..... Happy trails to all. >^..^< Tudy
  2. Just was wondering if anyone has a small digital TV that can work off the house battery, without running it down real fast. It would sure be nice to find a system that would be solar compatible. I wanna be a snowbird next winter. Minn is a drag in winter. Thanx, guys. Tudy
  3. It looks like a shorty to me. Maybe it doesn't need a HD rear axel. Check on that. I would check on the mechanical condition of the truck. It looks a fiberglass shell, which is good. Hope your find is a good one. The price is right. Tudy
  4. Hi! I, too, like the oldies but goodies. My daily driver is a 86 Toyota Camry, in near perfect condition with 104k mi. I never drive it in snow. It was my Mom's car and she was so proud of it. They are very reliable and get great gas mileage, just like our ToyRVs. It is too bad that they quit making the Toyota motorhomes. There is no equal. Good luck with your project! Tudy
  5. Again, How many batteries do you need for modest usage. Would your one house battery be enough for, say, an 80 watt portable? What kind of battery set up is ideal? Where do you store them? Space is limited on a Toy. Would I be wise to get a solar system down @ Quartzite or The Slabs instead of the internet? Thanx! Tudy
  6. Can you get by with just your one house battery if your elec usage is minimal? I'm thinking of the 80 watt portable. Looks like About 2x2 ft folded up. Thanx. Tudy
  7. I guess the good thing about the fuel filter on my 22r engine is that it is simple to locate and replace. It's right under the truck, behind the pas seat. Tudy
  8. Hey Curly, your Toy looks like my 84 Dolphin. I bet that it had the same gold curtains, as well. I guess I won't try washing them. I do plan to replace them this year and redo the interior (I'm no big fan of the original brown plaid "Herculan" material. I will just measure the windows, ect and shop for the material. I think that I may sew on a liner, if they aren't thick enough. I'm not sure if I can use the hangers that are on there, now, or not. I'm looking into alternative methods. Lot's of people use miniblinds, too. They are noisey at times and I don't think provide as much privacy. Pleated shades are another option. It will be nice to just update the interior a bit IMHO. As for the interior light cover. These are available @ any RV service or supply store. If you can't find the exact cover, you can replace the unit with one that will fit. I know nothing about seatbelts, so will leave that to someone more knowledgeable than me. Happy trails! Tudy
  9. I saw your pics of your Toy. The interior is one of the nicest ones I've ever seen. All the more inspiration to update my Toyhome. Tudy >^..^

  10. I, recently, put in a new Wingard batwing antenna on mine, where the fancy luggage rack one was before. I, also got a new 19 in digital TV with DVD player built in. I love it! Before, I couldn't get anything in. Now my TV and antenna gets just as good as reception as my cable TV at home. What a difference! Tudy
  11. Do you believe that the leak started under your shower and spread out to the floor outside of the bathroom? The carpet was soaked and the subfloor is swelling up from the moisture? I've never taken a floor out of a motorhome but I did on an old trailer. The floor was pressed wood and soaked up the water like a sponge. The frame in the trailer, was wood and I just replaced the damaged portion. I would like to know if the floor frames on these are wood or metal. Maybe someone else has had experience with the flooring. I hope you can find the leak. Does your pump keep coming on? That could mean a water pipe is leaking. Good luck on your project. Tudy
  12. Hi and welcome! I bet that you are as excited as I was when I got my 84 Dolphin a few years ago. It looks as if you have the same floor plan with rear kitchen. I love mine. I have the original brown plaid interior and gold curtains, but would like to redo it this year. I would just measure the windows, find some fabric and make some custom curtains. You could look for some ready made panels, but it would be hard to find the right size and would be more expensive. As for hardware to hang them, whatever works. For the inside light cover, the RV supply stores usually carry them. You might have to get the whole unit, if the new lense doesn't fit. As for the seatbelts, I haven't a clue. Maybe someone else can help you on that very important subject. Hope you have many happy miles in your Dolphin. I know that I'm planning some major trips this year. Enjoy your new Toy! Tudy
  13. I'm not sure if "Katz" is happy to be camping or not but he sure is a veteran @ 80000 miles. I would love to have a cat accompany me on my Toy trips. I would guess that I should start with a kitten, as cats don't normally like car rides. Also, teaching your kittie to accept the collar and leash would be essential. Tudy
  14. Hopefully, I will be able to join you Toylovers @ the 2011 Quartzite RV Rally. I'll be officially retired, then. Sounds like fun, food and friendly conversation. You throw in warm and you've got just my kind of destination. : D Tudy
  15. Hi. I'm Tudy from Waseca, Minnesota. My Toy is an 84 Dolphin, 4cyl, 4spd stick that I have owned for over 4 years. I love it and, being recently retired, am, just recently, getting into some serious RVing. I just got a new set of 8ply Hankook tires, Dometic fridge, batwing tv antenna and awning. I plan to do some interior remodeling next year. The Toy is in good condition with no water damage. I have all the service records and manuals. I like the floorplan with 2 captains chairs with small round table in between and a sofa/bed across the aisle. I put in all new dense foam in the sofa. That was a job, but I probably did it the hard way. : P I have the rear kitchen and small bath. Being that I'm single, I have plenty of room. I'm planning to go to AZ next winter and see you at the Quartzite AZ RV Rally in jan 2011. I have a digital camera in my Palm Pre. When I do take some pics, someone will have to advise me as to where I send them. I have sent my digital pics in emails, before. I am kinda computer challenged. All I have for internet access is Sprint Palm Pre with tiny keyboard. Sigh...... Glad that I can mingle with other Toy lovers. I can see that there is a wealth of knowledge available on this site. Happy Trails to all! Tudy
  16. Whoops! I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Tudy, from Waseca, Minnesota and, yes, it is cold with snow, here. Good thing my Toy is snug for the winter, at my sister's farm. : )
  17. I'm a single, retired girl who has owned her 84 Toyota Dolphin for about 4 years, now. The longest trip was about 530 miles round trip. I haven't had a speck of trouble except for fuel line leak, which I fixed myself. My truck has 4 speed manual, 4 cyl and a carb, so is easy to work on, so far. I have added a new fridge, batwing antenna and awning. My next project will be the brown "Herculan plaid" interior. I'd prefer tan with teal accents. My interior consists of two captains chairs, small round table between them and a couch/bed on the other side. I have the rear kitchen and small bath. I use a queen sized teal/green "Travasack" for my loft bed. I don't think that the loft was ever slept in, as the foam is like new. The interior is in pretty good shape overall, with no signs of leaks anywhere. My Toy has about 107k miles, but doesn't use a drop of oil. I get about 17 mpg if I go 55. I hope to travel down to AZ next winter to see my brother and, maybe, take in the Quatzite, AZ rally, as well. I can hardly wait! Whoo hoo! As for anyone looking for Toy RV. There is a lot of info on this site to help you on your mission. I was pleased to get mine for under 4k. I don't think that they go for much over 10k, but then, I'm not as qualified as others, here, to speculate.
  18. This is my first post. I must say that you all are an inspiration to a gal with a 25 year old Dolphin with a " brown Herculan plaid" interior. : P I have put in a new fridge, batwing antenna, and awning. The next renovation will certainly be the carpet and upholstery. My Toy is in storage, on the farm, for the winter. I'll try to get pics later. Meanwhile, I really enjoy this site. Now I can get to know lots of other Toy owners. : ) Next winter I would like to make it down to the jan. Quartzite Rally. My brother lives on an acreage by Bouse, Az. Thanx so much for the ideas! Merry Christmas and Happy Trails in the coming year!
