  1. evolving information šŸ¤£ isolator closes with truck running - and electrical in coach works - but once truck is off, itā€™s open and thereā€™s no coach power. seems like a voltage issue or does it need connection to the other piece in 2nd photo?
  2. itā€™s also working when the truck is running. what powers the coach battery? thank you šŸ’›
  3. hi! lost coach power for no apparent reason. coach battery is great. isolator was tested and will close with power of 12v (where marked) - jumped from truck battery. but otherwise will not close. what gets the 12v to where marked? it seems like this is where the issue is. and what is this in second photo? any help super appreciated!!!
  4. @IdahoDoug another question on the structure of the cabover do the cabover ceiling panels contribute to the structure at all, or are they also not a factor? guessing not because I know ours was once carpeted there, but not sure if there was any structure or something underneath the carpet that is critical? previous owner put in some thicker wood panels that eat up precious space and I dream of alteringā€¦ they told me it was once carpeted on the entire ceiling, so is the ceiling contributing to no structural support throughout?
  5. @linda s thank you. 1) darn it. admittedly, I didnā€™t notice the difference on each side when I bought it, and when my brother (whoā€™s mechanically inclined and has had a good number of toyotaā€™s for 4 wheeling) came from out of state to help me with some things on it and noticed, he was hoping it had something to do with the placement of the coach door. they didnā€™t say anything when they put on the new tires, and toyota also did an alignment afterwards and didnā€™t mention it. 2) thank you - will check it out. 3) PO said fridge didnā€™t work when he got it and wanted to get dometic electric ice chest - thought propane was unsafe for using with family, so PO removed propane altogether (and therefore oven (PO also wanted this oven space for storage) and water heater (which was replaced by PO w joolca tankless). it doesnā€™t have a furnace that I can tell. seller said everything could be re-hooked up, but honestly I am not skilled and trusted so I am not sure if that is the case. was hoping I could get this up and running but am starting to think that was very naive of me šŸ˜¬ 4) finding the hole, mounting a new table and getting cushions sounds like the easiest part of this whole thing - haha - thank you! @fred heath thank you so much - will take it in this week with this info and hope for the best.
  6. hey @thewanderlustking! did you end up coming up with anything? still working and would love to be able to head out for longer periods beyond PTO. engineer friend thinks T-Mobile is the best option for strong connectivity and reliability (long zoom calls, etc) - but came here to see if anyone else had experience with this. let me know if you came up with anything! thank you šŸŒž
  7. @extech thank you - will check this out!
  8. thank you @linda s!! these were (super old and cracking) tires it came with - yes they were too big (195.75.15), we replaced with what I think was recommended size (hankook vantra lt ra18 185R14), but they are still close on passenger side and not even on the driver and passenger sidesā€¦ just realizing I donā€™t have a newer photo. will take one. thank you for cleaning tips!! REALLY looking forward to give it a good cleaning soon. is there a trim that can be purchased where the original cab/coach trim is no longer to really pretty it up?! šŸ˜‚ will add rest of questions: CEILING HELP: ceiling redone by PO - (took down original ceiling carpeting / scraped about 2-3mm of wood sheets, then slats were glued over the wood) itā€™s pretty thick and hoping to regain some sleeping area height especially - any ideas on a thinner option? you can see support system in photos - was told all just in by tension / support. wondering if there is another way to make it work. I have a carpenter friend who can help, but hoping to gain some insights here first ā™„ļø WATER HEATER: original was removed - joolca tankless installed, with portable water jugs in place of the stove. we would like to restore to original set up - the original tanks are in, just not the water heater (PO wanted no propane). does anyone recommend a water heater replacement - tankless vs standard? TABLE / CUSHION DIMENSIONS: flooring redone by PO - laminate flooring placed over new plywood - original table style was converted to moving arm style. want to restore back - does anyone have dimensions of original rear dinette (with U shape seating) table top? cushions were also removed and not replaced when we purchased - are there dimensions anywhere? THANK YOU!
  9. @linda s hi! did you ever get the 18ā€™ sunrader decals from carbon wraps in orlando? most of ours are completely worn off. would love to replace. found a shop here (northern ca) who quoted $300-500 to measure / fabricate / install - but wanted to see if you had any luck ordering from the shop bound for nowhere used and if so, what they charged? thank you!
  10. @linda s hi! did you ever get the 18ā€™ sunrader decals from carbon wraps in orlando? most of ours are completely worn off. would love to replace. found a shop here (northern ca) who quoted $300-500 to measure / fabricate / install - but wanted to see if you had any luck ordering from the shop bound for nowhere used and if so, what they charged? thank you!
  11. ā€˜86 18ā€™ sunrader came without oven (PO removed to use area for water storage), and refrigerator does not work (PO used ice chests / deferred replacement). know these appliances are not inexpensive, however, still got the sunrader with this in mind / knowing we would like to take an extended cross country trip with these conveniences. FRIDGE thoughts on dometic 3 way (currently having a sale) or advice on if this is not the way to go? COOKTOP I know most have original stoves installed - if anyone has thoughts on a replacement / ok with cooktop only (no stove) - would love any advice. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
  12. new sunrader & even after reading threads for months, I still feel I know nothing, so thankful for any help you can provide! two things that feel a little funky and hoping are OK - 1 is the tire really close to the fender flare on the passenger side - hoping this is related to the entry door next to it on this side and not that something is wrong? 2 if the original label on the door jamb wasnā€™t there, I would think this was put on a different truck by the looks of these bolts and all the caulking. I havenā€™t noticed this on other sunraders - is this cause for concern?! thank you!!
  13. recently got an 18ā€™ ā€˜86 toyota sunrader - after having lurked here a long time definitely not in the greatest shape, but hoping to make good enough to enjoy for a long trip in august / september. have a lot of free time currently, so am interested in things I can do to spruce it up, even if just cosmetic. as well as things I might not be able to do on my own, but that might be important to maintaining it (less worried about cosmetic outsourcing). any advice is greatly appreciated!! will post topics separately - there are many haha - hope that is the best way to go! photos of the worst parts of the exterior - do these primarily look like cosmetic issues or anything I should be repairing?
  14. another question! what is the ideal tire pressure for the front and back - they are suggesting 45/50 in the front at 60 in the back - but wanted to check on any advice before I pick it up. thank you!!!
  15. thank you, I really appreciate it! we bought it in san jose and the previous owner towed it to our house to be sure nothing went wrong on the drive up due to a few things that needed attention - if Iā€™d been more organized, I would have had some of the work done down there first. thank you for all the help!!!
  16. linda, if you could share the san jose tire shops you recommend, I would love to keep them noted for next time around when we are ok to drive a bit further for the work (we are north of san francisco) - that would be great!!!
  17. unfortunately the tires are 15 years old and very cracked in back so we didnā€™t want to risk driving too far and having a blow out. also were in a time sensitive situation because we had a potential theft issue and wanted to get it ok to drive 30 mins to a locked storage until we can get it squared away off the street at our house and have it spend minimal time where it is parked. long story, but this is why we didnā€™t order and take to another tire shop. this tire shop has fixed 5 nails in my tires (I have no idea why so many is even possible, but that is another issue!) in the last 2 years since we moved nearby and theyā€™ve never charged me or accepted a tip, so I figured it was a way to pay that backā€¦ we were told we could get them on saturday so we went with the quicker option - then they said it would be monday - then today these other tires came in incorrectly. they are now storing it inside their shop for us so we could not worry so much about it overnight and gave a discount for the issue, as it would be another 2 days to wait for the othersā€¦ ah! just didnā€™t go as planned. I suppose I can ask them to store it and wait for the ones online at this point. I told them 82346 times about the LH lugs on driver rear, but typing this out makes me think I should sit there while they do them as this didnā€™t go well so far! thank you so much linda!!
  18. the tire shop shipped in the wrong ones - from looking around here it seems these will also be ok - but wanted to see if anyone had anything to say otherwise before they install tomorrow: hankook vantra lt ra18. thank you!
  19. thank you so much fred & linda, I really really appreciate it. you are correct - I have 14ā€ I currently have these on there (photos attached) - they are now recommending: nexen roadian CT8 185R14 with an 1865lb max capacity do these seem OK? I would love to order the ones linked, but if these are ok, I will go with it as we are a bit stranded in terms of parking at the moment. if the linked thunderers are better for less, I may try to wait and keep my fingers crossed on the parking situation! so very much appreciate your help!
  20. my local tire shop recommended LT195.75.15 8PLY YOKOHAMAā€™s today. I notice here this is incorrect and I should be getting 185R14D 8ply tires - correct? wanted to double check here before I purchased anything! thank you.
  21. hey tyler, did you end up finding someone? do you recall who was in petaluma that would fabricate? the napa spot - advantage RV - is not longer doing these. mine are super cracked at the curve and need some major TLC! thank you!
