  1. Your coach battery is TOAST. If it took 1.5L of water the plates inside were uncoverd for a long time and have been damaged. Your converter is trying to charge a shorted battery and can't run the lights at the same time. Try unhookinh the coach battery and then plug in the shore power line and see if everything works.
  2. www.partstrain.com has "Direct replacement" KYB and "fits the following vin's " Monroe. Both around $34.00
  3. 1st to 2nd at full throttle is 32mph, 2nd to 3rd is around 60 mph. If you using less than full throttle it will shift sooner
  4. Find the water filler spout on the outside and follow the line. The tank may have been damaged by the fire and later removed.
  5. You got me curious, went to my online parts guy and they got NWB and Bosch replacement with no adapter needed. $9.95 NWB and $7.95 Bosch.
  6. I have an 86 Escaper w/automatic here in Wy, I get over the passes sooner or later. But it is very easy to abuse an auto so check the fluid and do a careful test drive. Is either one fuel injected? EFI is more expensive to repair but it runs better and gets better MPG.
  7. Measure length and go K-mart and buy wiper of correct length. Most wiper sets have the necessary adapters to make them work with any arm assemble
  8. www.radiatorbarn.com just follow the search chart option #4, all metal, 3 row, $200
  9. If it is a Microlite 2800 then you can add the Onan after muffler. If its the old 1cylinder with the engine exposed then your stuck.
  10. What model of Onan is it???
  11. How long did the OEM clutch last??? DO you intend to drive your toy that far and that long.?? I would go with a stage1 upgrade. That would be the first step above OEM. Stage 3 or 4 clutches are a bit nastie and are suited more for high HP and high rpm takeoffs.
  12. Where was the CB between the battery and inverter or between the inverter and coffee pot????. Ive got a 150 AMP fuse on my battery leads
  13. Looks good, for your next trick try something with the dash..................
  14. Most states have NO law on Towd brakes or they only apply if the towd weighs more that 3000lb.
  15. There are + and - for each Rv, thats why there so many RVs. Your limit of $10k is going to limit you to older anythings. RULE #1 There are no bad makes, ONLY bad examples. A unit well maintained of any make is a much better deal than one of the "desirable" units that has not been maintained. Class C Toyota...+small, easy parking, good MPG, stone reliable engines, chassis...- limited space, limited water, cruising speed 60-65 mph, no towd's Class B....+ Interstate cruising speed 70-75MPH, small, can handle a towd, (but why),easy park....- even more limited space, smaller bath (compared to Toys with rear bath) make bed each night, limited water, MPG less than Toy but more than Class C. Class C... Most room, more sizes, more floor plans, good Interstate speed, Towd's OK, most water, most cargo....- worst MPG ( bigger Class C with a Towd are in the 5-7 mpg class), you might need a Towd. With the gas shock from last summer still fresh in everybody's mind the low MPG units are cheaper than normal, the economy is making it even worse (or better depend on your view) $10K with a bit of a search will get you a 90-94 Toy in good shape, Class B 90-96, in a Class C right a 2000 is not out of reason for $10k. Remembering some Class B cost mor than a lot of Class C in the same year. If you are interested in a Toy start reading about the Axles on the older 4 cyl units and the head gasket recall on some of the V-6 engines. All the other other stuff is about the same as you had your travel trailer I have a 86 Toy that I have put about $1500 in after I bought it and drive it anywhere with out worry.
  16. Even if you changed to the GM V-6 4.3l to get enough power to tow, you don't have enough brakes to stop both cars.
  17. Go to the Toyotamotorhomes.com site and check out Nolans stuff. Bleu and Rootbeer
  18. Ugh 1 ton = 2000lb, 4000lb is a bit overloaded already. The normal toy is a 1/2 ton truck, the 6 bolt takes it up to a full ton capacity. So adding a house on the back takes it to grossly overloaded even though its empty. Removing the house stuff (stove, water heater, toilet)is only going to reduce the weight by 500lb or so, I mean an empty water tank does not weigh much. If your gonna do it, put the heavy stuff low and between the front and rear axles. Light stuff behind the rear axle and lighter stuff in the cab over.
  19. You need to scale each axle ( front and rear) to get an idea of how much weight the 3 tires would have to carry. I would guess the front axle is around 1700 lb and the rear is around 4300 lb. 4300 is to close the max for 3 of the 27X tires. Espceialy if your empty now. The big deal about the 3 tires is most of the 86 Toys have a 5 bolt front rim and a 6 bolt rear. Most of us carry only a 5 bolt spare. We plan on limping into the nearest town and getting a replacement tire, or swaping the tire on the 5 bolt spare. Right now the math says 185 D
  20. I don't know about ground clearance on the frame, but my airbags will raise the rear bumper 5-6 inches.
  21. 185/195 C range max psi 50, max load 1600lb.....185 D range max psi 65 max load 1850.... 27x8.5x14 max psi 50, max load 1500. The question is what does your Toy really weigh and will 3 tires support the load, after a flat??
  22. If the front seal has ever been replaced check the pully and make sure its itght.
  23. They probably will rub when mounted on duels. The recommended tire is 7.3" section width, these are 8.6"
  24. I've done it with the engine in the truck, not to big a problem. A medimun amount of mech skill is needed. Before you get too excited take off the cam cover and check the chain guides. If they are OK then check again next year.
