  1. If you need extra power for really steep hills you have the ect button on the dash to push.
  2. The 92 v6 dolphin I had for a short time had the gaskets twice. The first owner had it done at 15k miles under warranty. The second owner had it done around 86k miles. The receit was around 1500. I was amazed to see 500 of it was for the head gasket. There was also a receit for the right exhoust gasket for 500 a year later.
  3. 110vac your getting to the tail light tells me the isolator that prevents your shore power from going to your truck battery from the converter is failing. It should be located around the converter area. you might have to pull up the bench and look in the back to find it. With the truck pluged into shore power check the voltage to your truck battery. If you have a normal 12vdc than that means when you installed the converter one of the wires is hooked up wrong.
  4. Fubar is right about the charging system. I took out my battery and put a meter on the charge cable and found the battery was only getting 5vdc from the old charger. Highly recomend updateing your converter if its original.
  5. I had some of 12vdc sys only work when pluged into shore power. Discovered I accidently hit the wall plug near the couch that has the ground fault interupt circuit. I pushed the reset button and all was good.
  6. There is a isolator in the engine compartment that allows the alternator to charge both batteries and prevent reverse current flow keeping your house battery from draining your coach battery. I bet the isolator is tired and the contacts are sticking. Duplicate the scenario that causes the fan to work with truck off. You have a input and output on the isolator. 12vdc will be sitting at the input side. Put a meter or 12vdc load light to output side of the isolator, if you have voltage coming out toward the house battery side you found your ghost.
  7. As mentioned before the pumps are not cheap, you dont want to throw parts at it. I had a travel trailer that the pump didnt work. I checked voltage to it and that was fine. For whatever reason I pulled a line off from it and put it back together and it worked fine with out a problem. Seems like it needed a prime or some how the pressure switch got reset from trapped air.
  8. Your fridge working in elec is great. Means the gas side prob is minor. There is a indicator that lets you know the pilot light is going. You have to open the fridge door and to the far left of the knobs there is a small shiny metal looking piece in a small cut out. When you hit the stricker you will see the metal thing shine for a second that lets you know the pilot is going. If there is air in the gas line I turn on the stove top to purge out any trapped air to expedite the process. Im not sure what the % it has to be within level. You might want to take the vent cover off to get to the pilot and look at the flame, There will be a screw around a small metal box cover to take off. The pilot flame should be blue not orange, if its working right you can barely see it. I just bought my rv and there was a lot of road dirt on the coil to wash off. If it is real hot outside it will take the fridge a lot longer to cool down. Another thing you can do is get a fan like the kind used on a computer and wire it in to push either cool air to the lower coil or hot air out thru the roof vent. The rv store sells a small battery operated rv fan to work on the inside to circulate air.
  9. The bottle has to be hydrostatic tested every so many years. The propane bottle I use on my gas grill has to have the new overfill protection device with the triangular knob to shut off the gas. I priced a new horizontal propane bottle for the rv last week and it listed around $220 ouch!
  10. Kathy how do you like the converter? I am forced to upgrade the old magnatek 6300. It is only showing 5vdc with the battery disconnected. I ordered from the same company. Smity
  11. I am the third owner of a 1992 toyota dolphin with v6, 90k miles. The first owner had the gasket recall at 15k miles. The second owner had another head gasket put on at 88k. I know these engines have to work twice as hard pulling the weight they do. I wonder if this engine can go the distance without too many problems?
  12. Hi Im new to this forum with a new to me 92 Dolphin V6 with 90K. I know that you turn off OD when going thru hills when the transmission is hunting gears. I also read the shift points are different when using the ECT switch. Im not sure when you use the ECT? Is there a situation when you use one over the other or both at the same time? In city traffic do you drive with OD on and the ECT switch off? Thanks Smity
