  1. What do you think a 18' sunraders weight on the rear axle is with everything out of the inside, only the fiberglass shell on, 1300 lbs. axle weight? And does the 1/2 ton axle mean 1000 lbs. pay load?
  2. So when I weight my motorhome (with 5 lug) it has to be $3000 lbs. really if I want to keep 5 lug on, with the outside wheels off. I think I can do it maybe do it?...
  3. So the damage may already be done to my axle? Even if I'm really light now. Whats the max lbs. for 5 lug with the duely off, say a stock pick up?
  4. Thats why the 5 lugs brake! 7000 lbs thats crazy... I'm hopping mine will weigh in at 3000 lbs.
  5. WOW! thats crazy man!!! I have a 18'' sunrader that I plan on using the 5 lug on. Take some pictures of the wheel/motorhome and post them up here.
  6. Don't think it would be any problem to do, all you got to do is cut up your truck...
  7. Oh yea that right, mines all closed off, guess it wouldn't work then for the rest of you...
  8. Well... I would say it will ok. Almost everyone on this board will say don't chance it. Don't drive on it. The thing about the axle is it can brake at anytime really, but yea, they replaced in 01, mine in 05 or so, seams like it will hold for a bit? But then again I hear that some peoples broke when the were new. I would say don't drive fast, 55 and under, don't hit turns fast (I think thats when its more likely to break), keep the outside wheels 5 or 10 PSI lower and pray to God that it does break when your driving. Keep in mind that I've only drove my MH 40 miles home after I bought it and thought I was going to die in that death machine (was bad when I got it), thats it, been working on it. And I'm not going to be driving on it when I'm done too much. Its a live-in beach/surf motorhome, + it should be 1000 LBS lighter then stock. If I was going to go on trips with it I think I would change it, cause I know the whole time I'm going to drive it I'll be thinking its going to break. Good luck...
  9. If you can always take a mattress, cut the bottom off, take it apart, take the box spring out, then cut the foam inside to fit. Thats what I'm doing...
  10. Shanda, I'm in the same boat you are. 18' 82 Sunrader with 5 lug, old owner said he broke the axle, had it replaced with same kind (I would say). I'm going to just call it good, wait till it breaks I guess, that is "if" it breaks. But I'm going to lighten it up a lot! Oh and I too painted my wheels, gangsta gloss black, with my fav 99 cent homedepot paint haha http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v322/Yostfmx/DCP_2812.jpg Really that stuff works good! Think I spent $2 to paint my wheels hahaha... Oh and the window putty tape sucks, but thats all you can really use. You would think that they would come up with something better after all theses years. My day used this window sealent stuff that he got from a window place over 9 years ago and only use that on the whole windows (as they said) when he put them back in, and he says that they have never leaked... don't know if I want to try that? I think that my front bed windows leak, don't know how I'm going to seal thoses? They're all cracked and look like if you push on them they'll bust thur haha.
  11. This guys last post was in 2007, I thing he long gone off this site... but, I too cut the roof of my sunrader and raised it 8'', so I could stand. PM me, I'll hook you up with everything you need to know.
  12. I'll add some more pictures soon, It had no AC on the motorhome, and is not going to have one. Thats what the beach is for haha. Yea, the sunrader is, I and alot of other people would say the best toyota motorhome cause its made out of one BIG fiberglass shell. The only way that it can leak it at the vents and windows + body is very strong. I had everything out out of the inside and cut the roof off and it was still solid!
  13. Glad I live in CA where you can drive whatever piece of crap you think you can go down the road with, with no brakes and gas leaking it to your motorhome haha (like mine was when I got it, gas that is) If you saw how your motorhome was put together you wouldn't think you can mess it up haha...
  14. Well that made my head spin... That last a foam $54 for 4' x 8'. My 7 sheets on order, 4' x 8' $7. Thanks for the info, last a foam sounds good but that would be way to much money.
  15. Don't know if you check this out: http://www.toyotamotorhome.org/forums/inde...?showtopic=1049 but thats about where its at. 5/8 styrene foam (order, no one has in stock) is going to be in in 2 days. My cab will be all done tomorrow. Its looking pretty sweet!
  16. Should change the fronts too. Don't know what that intails? Thats a nice box van! Would make a good motorhome.
  17. Oh so thats what a filon is... I always thought thoses newer TMH were sheet metal.
  18. Well a tube of sealent (at motorhome place for motorhomes) is $6 - $10, shouldn't take that much? $50 maybe? to replace the wood inside, can't be more then $50. probably more like $20. Your lucky, from what I can see you have the 6 lug rear axle. The rear axle was recalled on almost all these older toyota motorhome, yours was changed/fixed. That saves you $700 - $1,500 Looks good, nice trade...
  19. Whos its made by? How long is it? Whats it like inside? Nice/ok? What state do you live in? In So Cal they seem to go for more. Check on craigslist.com and see what there going for in your area. Your motorhome could be anywhere from $2000 - $17,000. Need more info, and look at the rear alxe and see is there are 5 lug nuts or 6 on the inside wheel. If you have picture that would help us tell what its worth better.
  20. Don't know if I'll be much help but I'll try, #1: Is it fiberglass or aluminum? #2: Do you want the easy ghetto way to fix it and don't care about looks all that much, Or the "right" way maybe harder way to fix it? #3 You need to post a picture of the damage in order to tell what you need to do. #4 Do you intend to repaint damage area? Sometimes on here its hard to get a reply to some stuff, don't know why? And theres not alot of people using this board every day so if you need to know something fast your left waiting sometimes for a while.
  21. Is it ok you cut a 3''-4'' deep in to the plywood betwen cab and cabin (for a door) and from the middle of it down to the foor cut out? Or is that going to make it weak? http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn48/plupus/Rader-Cab.jpg
  22. I don't think it would be hard at all to find seats that the will bolt on, most are very close. You could make a bracket to make them work, well... that may not be safe now that I think of it. Power seats? I have not a clue but you should be able to take all the power stuff out of your old seats and move them to your new ones. Or you could recover your like I did mine: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v322/Yostfmx/DCP_2868.jpg Didn't do that great of a job. Its not all that hard if you know how to sew, used the old brown sides and back.
  23. 1985 Dolphin in good shape, low miles $4,000 - $5,000. High miles over 100,000k good shape $3,500 - $4,500. But how big? If its super nice with low miles 1985 can go for well up to $7,000 - $10,000 and more. If you have time to look give it a year and you could get a great deal!
