  1. Could be your coach battery is toast. Go somewhere and have them check it but first you check and see if there's any water in there. If not add distilled water and plug into shore power and see if it charges. Linda S
  2. Cost will vary widely between shops. Location is also a factor. You will just have to start calling and find the best price. It won't be cheap Linda S
  3. Worse case scenario I don't think you are too far from me and I now have a really good tranny shop here in San Jose that I trust. They did my Explorer transmission 3 years ago for a very cheap price and no problems. Less than half the price of any others. I asked about possibly working on the Toy home if I ever needed it and they said no problem Linda S
  4. There are a couple of buttons down there you need to push to light it. Turn propane on. Get propane into the lines if it has not been used by lighting the stove and letting it burn just for a few momments. Then turn fridge to propane. There is a little thing down there that you can look through all the way to the left to see if it has lit. Find 2 buttons just to the right of that place and hold the button on the right in while pushing the button on the left. repeatedly like lighting a barbeque. it is a pezio lighter just like that. When you see it light hold the button on the right down for at least 20 or 30 seconds for the thermocouple to warm and it will stay lit. If it doesn't work and stay lit turn evetything off and wait 5 minutes and start the whole process again. If you don't see any spark at all the pezio is not working and it may need service Linda S If it's leaking propane you will be able to smell it One other thing. Outside propane must be all the way off or all the way on. halfway can leak
  5. Yes do it yourself. When I first got mine I had a complete flush at a tranny shop. They put the gasket in wrong and completely stripped the threads for 2 of the bolts that hold the pan in place. I had to rethread and install larger bolts and put in a new gasket myself. Tranny still wasn't shifting better and thats when I tried the Lucas stuff. I don't know how it works but that was almost nine years ago and it's still running fine. I have changed the fluid maybe 2 or 3 more times since then always adding about a pint of Lucas tranny fix. In California so most trips are to the mountains so tranny is given a real workout too Linda S
  6. Same as they build any stretch limo. A lot of welding and another bus for the extra side panels. Nice job though Linda S Wonder what the rear axles look like on this one
  7. What a bizarre set up.Looks like it would have been much more effective if they welded the rear shock mounts farther back. Linda S
  8. The rubber on your sleeves is so stretched out I don't think fixing them is going to work. T9 might have replacement sleeves but they don't show any air suspension systems on their website at all anymore for toyota's. Can't hurt to call http://www.3tsrv.com/Products/t9_system_air.htm Linda S
  9. I use Lucas transmission fix in my tranny and it seems to be working great. Have heard the same from quite a few other toyhome owners too http://www.lucasoil.com/products/display_products.sd?iid=29&catid=2 Linda S
  10. I did lots of tests with overdrive and not on highway 5, long flat road in central valley Ca and I always got better mileage with it off. Haven't turned it on in years now and the tranny that was iffy when I bought it is still running fine with no work done other than adding some Lucas tranny stuff. Linda S
  11. Dolphins have the most upgraded axles of any brand out there thanks to National Rv. Of course it's always possible it got missed but much less likely being a Dolphin Linda S
  12. Weird. I wonder who's rig I'm thinking of. Oh well no I'm not just talking about 18ft Sunraders. My friend Mark has a v6 rear bath and his is on the back. I was going to post some pics of battery boxes in other places but for some reason I can't post any links. Well I found some on a Sliverada on the passenger side in the rear. Some on the drivers side in the rear. All depends on floor plane and year. Linda S
  13. Turtle Mike has a 92 Sunrader with the v6 and his coach battery is under the hood. Depending on the floor plan some have the coach battery behind the rear storage bin or where it would be. Should be a door back there. Under the sofa. Keep looking it's there somewhere. Mine has a battery door on the drivers side near the front of the coach. I have seen some back farther near the storage/generator compartment Linda S
  14. Well those rims are called" beauty rings "so yes for looks. Linda S
  15. I don't know what year your sunrader is but provided it has a full float axle and in good shape Sunraders are selling for 8 grand and up. 25,000 miles on the engine would get even more. Even when your all done your still ahead of the game. Tell your wife it's an investment. I paid 6000 for mine almost 9 years ago and can sell it in a heartbeat today for 8 or 9 grand Linda S
  16. I have been looking at tons of small rv's for a long time but I have never seen anything like it. I have never seen a coach that angles in towards the front like that either. Neat find Derek Linda S
  17. Breaking down anywhere far from home can be pretty scary. Your at the mercy of strange mechanics who might be good or might be a nightmare. A toyota camper member, a female, had her transmission go out not too far from me and she paid 4 grand to have it repaired. If I had known I could have had it towed to my shop about 50 miles away and fixed for 1500 but by the time she posted it was too late for me to help. I called the same shop where she had the work done with my Man voice and said my name was Sam and they quoted me 2000 so women are even in more trouble. I have gotten very lucky sometimes too. Dodge camper broke down in Custer SD and the shop there worked for 6 hours to get it running and only charged me 165 bucks including the tow. There are good guys out there. Just hope your lucky enough to find them like you did JD in Ontario Linda S
  18. Thank you from me too Fred. I wasn't mentioned but I do have a vested interest in this site and I ask everyone to remember the purpose of this site. We are here to discuss Toyota motorhomes and all things that pertain to that subject. If you want to ignore someone DO NOT RESPOND TO THEIR POSTS. If you have a personal issue with someone email them privately. This is not the place to bring it up. These private ego battles need to stop NOW Linda S moderator No responses to this post. 19. Lots of silicone removers available. They attack and soften the silicone so it scrapes off easily. Looks like quite a few of them are available at your local Home Depot or Ace hardware http://www.google.com/#hl=en&tbo=d&biw=1280&bih=634&sclient=psy-ab&q=+silicone+sealant+remover&oq=+silicone+sealant+remover&gs_l=serp.3..0l4.32385.40388.0.41324.13.8.0.0.0.0.1904.2575.5-1j8-1.2.0.les%3B..0.0...1c.1.5MpSbsWtD-c&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&fp=15667442720058dd Linda S
  20. Have any of you ever tried this. 5 or 6 car lengths behind a semi and the wind coming off the truck whips you back and forth like there's no tomorrow. Besides the fact that if someone pulls in front of that truck you can kiss your behind goodbye. Or are we talking about cars here that actually stop when you brake Linda S
  21. I don't. The 19 can be gotten on relatively flat terrain at just a kick under 60 and the 14 is when I'm doing 65 plus. Of course there's not a lot of plus beyond that 65 but I can do 70 pretty easy if I don't have much cross wind. Handling get to be a pain then. Linda S
  22. Well lets not forget the motorhomes. 1986 toyota cab and chassis automatic EPA 12mpg my experience with an 18ft Sunrader 14 to 19 mpg Makes you wonder if it was ever tested at all Linda S
