  1. My Toyota Sunrader is named "Baby" cause a jogger on the beach in Santa Cruz stopped cold when she saw it parked between the behemoth motorhomes and said OMG it looks like they had a baby. She's been Baby every since. My Nissan Sunrader had a more agressive look to it and sits higher and has more power so I decided it was a boy so his name is "Buddy". Linda S
  2. Brochure for the 85 says it's105 inches tall. I just measured mine and seems to be the same. Yours must be very close to that. Of course that's without AC on top. I don't have one up there Linda s
  3. OMG I remembered the post but I didn't remember it being you. Well I consider you to be a pretty smart ,sharp guy and if you can do it anyone can. Linda S
  4. I mentioned before I've seen a Nissan d21 with a fold flat seat and I just found a discussion on a Nissan frontier site where they were asking if anyone had any use for the seat when it folded flat. So I guess Nissan has had them for quite a while. Width should be close. That's what I would be looking for. Of course your going to have to find one with a bench seat. Probably not too many Linda S
  5. There are pretreatments for porus wood like oak at most hardware stores. Prevents the darker grain area from absorbing too much color. You must have some scraps left experiment first with them. If it still looks too dark to you can experiment with some whitewash look stains. make sure your happy before you commit. http://www.minwax.com/wood-products/preparation/minwax-prestain-wood-conditioner Linda S
  6. Back to staining. Oak will get darker than most other woods just with polyurethane sealer. Also the best case scenario when rebuilding a toy home is to seal all wood surfaces before you install them. That water that leaks down from a bad window seal is going behind the paneling not just on the front. I seal all surfaces before installing any wood on my camper. Did the floor and varathaned all sides and edges before I screwed it down. Better safe than sorry Linda S
  7. Well I don't think we should assume it's a pretend post. Maybe he just didn't want to admit he went through the drve through at Taco Bell. Another member here forgot what he was driving and drove into a parking garage. They handle so well it's not that hard to forget how big and tall they are. Accidents happen Linda S Poster guy if you can post some pics I'm sure you could get some good advice about repairing this
  8. Advice on how not to break your fridge is not really scheming to make more money. These guys don't even start replacing the cooling unit until they have checked all the electrics to make sure that's not the problem. The newer fridges that don't require as much leveling didn't come out until the 90's so pretty much all of our toy homes have the older ones unless you have replaced it. Linda S
  9. Read the link I posted and it tells what the gurgle sound is, post 11. Once it's gurgling I don't think you can save it. Need new cooling unit. I just bought one on ebay from a place in Arkansas. Really good place. This is their website. Price was a little cheaper on ebay but can't find any right now http://rvicebox.com/CUPricing.htm Linda S
  10. It would depend on what your fixing. Engine parts can come from Toyota or Rock Auto or any number of other auto parts stores. Camp parts can come from Ebay or PPL motorhome parts or camping world. What do you need Linda S
  11. Running off level is the main reason for cooling unit failure. These guys fixed mine and RV fridges are all they do. http://www.gasrefrigeration.net/why%20they%20fail.htm Linda S
  12. All the seals and gaskets are still available from toyota. Look here to find the part number and then you can buy locally or buy from them for a discount. Takes a while to narrow it down to your truck or you can enter your vin. http://www.toyotapartszone.com/toyota-truck-pickup-parts.html Linda S
  13. OK I don't want to argue about this I just want to know why. I found the winnebago specs for a 1994 winnie which would be a 93 chassis I think and the GAWR was 4400 lbs. Way more than mine and yours. So could the v6 axle be stronger? Linda S
  14. My girlfriend had Geico and when a woman ripped her door off in a parking lot, my girlfriend was getting out of her car, Geico paid the other womans claim like my girlfriend had done something wrong. Then they raised her rates. Came very close to ripping her legs off but Geico didn't want to fight State Farm Linda S
  15. EBay just make sure you buy one with the vent on the same side as yours. Suburban or American appliance is on the left and Atwood is on the right. This should be the right size. Toyhomes almost always have a 3 gallon or 6 gallon water heater and they use the same size door http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=6+gallon+water+heater+dor&_qfkw=1&_mqf=0&_osacat=50067&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0&_nkw=+6+gallon+water+heater+door&_sacat=50067 Linda S
  16. Well the fake dually was not a toyota item. They were all installed by the rv manufacturers and the page in the axle facts is from National RV the maker of the Dolphin. It amounts to them admintting they were at fault. Not CYA by any means Linda S
  17. I think he reused his but just search for selfsealing or locking weather strip. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&biw=1280&bih=634&noj=1&sclient=psy-ab&q=selfsealing+weatherstrip&oq=selfsealing+weatherstrip&gs_l=serp.3..0i13j0i13i30j0i13i5i30l2.7316.16270.1.17175.18.18.0.0.0.0.234.3059.0j14j3.17.0...0.0...1c.1.8.serp.j8zLHEWox6M
  18. You do realize that the axles didn't snap all by themselves. The recall clearly states that the stress put on the bearings by the fake duallys caused bearing failure and complete bearing failure caused the axle to snap. I have never recommend that anyone install fake duallys on their motorhome. Do you happen to know what the GAWR for the full floater is. I couldn't find it anywhere. Linda S
  19. I want to know too. My best friend is moving to Santa Rosa and I will be up there a lot and most of the time in my Sunrader. Linda S
  20. Towing capacity is 5000lbs and GCWR is 8,600 lbs. There is of course no way of knowing what Dolphin did to increase the GVWR beyond Toyota's recommended weight. There must be some documents somewhere because I think it would have to be approved somehow. Linda S
  21. From the toyota brochure for 1990. Listed is a 1 ton truck with single rear wheels and a v6 engine. Gross vehicle weight limit on the truck is 5600 pounds. A 1988 truck with dual rear wheels and the 4 cylinder engine has a gross vehicle weight of 5500 pounds also from the toyota brochure for that year. Is that clear enough. Linda S
  22. GVWR of the 1 ton v6 truck with single wheels is 5600lbs. 100lbs more than all the 4 bangers with the full float dullies. I rest my case Linda S
  23. Well that's the one Timmy bought and even though everything else broke on it the axle is fine last I heard. he even loaded it with at least an extra 2000lbs taking a half dozen friends and their kayaks and gear for miles to run a river. Still didn't break. The roof did cave in though Linda S There are numerous messages on the toyota-camper site about Odyssey 4x4's and their owners. No reports of bad axles
  24. Eric's differential page. No known axle failures on v6 Odyssey 4x4's which came with single wheels '86-95 4cyl Turbo and V6* trucks and 4runners, and ALL '96+ 4Runners use the Toyota 8" 4-pinion differential in the rear. This diff is known as the "V6/Turbo diff." - Stronger housing than the 4cyl diff - Larger carrier bearings than the 4cyl diff - 30 spline axles - 27 spline pinion (pre-'96) - Ten 10mm ring gear bolts - 8mm axle housing studs with 12mm nuts - 4-pinion carrier (case) - 4cyl 8" diff carriers (cases) do not fit without custom carrier bearing adapters ($), try Inchworm Gear - A few pre-'96 V6 trucks and 4runners have been found to have come with the 4cyl style diff from the factory. Nobody knows why. * LPH/SPH gear info: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1478223&postcount=73 Linda S
  25. Here are a couple of places near you Karen that claim to have Nissan dually axles http://www.alslynnwoodtruckparts.com/ http://www.simpsonsusedparts.com/ From Car-part and many of these listings are already gone but it can't hurt to call. Linda S
