  1. Hi Carol - Any chance you could post pictures of the current porch light on your rig? Pics will be able to help us recommend something for you. :)

Also, try the "Search" feature near the top of the page (on the right-hand side) to see past threads on a specific topic. I found this thread you might wanna check out:

  2. Ditto what Anthony said.

I'm just starting my journey to redo my 86 Sunrader and for what it's worth, here's what I'm finding so far:

    1. Amazon.com: Good for a lot of little upgrade things such as backup cameras and LED marker lights.

    2. Ebay.com: Good for some hard to find items at a reasonable price.

    3. RockAuto.com: Good for truck parts.

    4. Renogy.com: Good for solar.

    5. Home Improvement Stores: Good for tools, screws, lumber, paint, etc.

Some other great resources I've found are marine stores, salvage yards, craigslist, offer up, and fb marketplace.

Take the above list with a grain of salt though. There are countless other fantastic resources that I haven't mentioned.

My suggestion would be to make a list of everything you want done to your rig and then order those projects by whatever priorities you have. For example, I'm prioritizing waterproofing my rig and mechanical work at the moment as it will be winter before we know it and then I won't be able to do much outside work on the rig - but I can do plenty inside it. Then, once you have your top priority projects, figure out what they entail and make a list of all the supplies you'll need for those projects. Once you have the supplies list, begin to search google, forums, fb groups, blogs, YouTube videos, etc - to see where others have bought those items and if that would work for you.

I'm a bit of a list person if you couldn't tell lol - I have a Google Spreadsheet going that lists every item I need to buy, the quantity of that item, the cost per item, total cost, URL of where it's for sale (if buying it online), and finally a details section where I can write things I need to remember about that item. Then, when I purchase an item on the spreadsheet, I just highlight that row - so I remember that it's been bought already.

Not to mention this keeps a running total of costs for me so I don't go broke trying to bring this bad boy back to life. :D :D :D

  3. Morning!!

Please see the attached pics of the state of my current windshield wipers on my 86 Sunrader.

If you look closely, you can see that a previous owner installed windshield wipers that are actually too large for the windshield (in one of the pics you can see the right wiper goes over the windshield trim on the passenger side). Any idea what size wiper I should get to replace the current ones? Any particular brand/size ya'll recommend?

In addition, the middle "arm" (not sure if thats the right term) of the wipers is all rusted. The little plastic piece closest to the hood looks fine - just those "arms" that look no good. Have any of ya'll had this problem? Any idea how to fix or replace?

    Thanks!

    Amy

  4. Hi All!

My 1986 Sunrader didn't come with any repair manuals so I was thinking about purchasing this - (1979 - 1995) Toyota Pick-Ups & 4Runner Haynes Repair Manual - https://haynes.com/en-us/toyota/pickup/1979-1995 - the online manual version because it comes with video tutorials.

In addition, I also found this PDF while searching Google - 1985 Toyota Truck & 4-Runner Gasoline Repair Manual - http://htftp.offroadsz.com/marinhaker/programi/VSI4KO ZA TOYO/1985FSM_OCR.pdf.

For my daily driver I currently have a 2003 Honda Pilot and have learned to do repairs/maintenance on it via YouTube and through the (2003 - 2008) Honda Pilot Haynes Repair Manual - https://haynes.com/en-us/honda/pilot/2003-2008 - the print version I picked up at a local Auto Zone.

Are there any additional manuals to get that you think might be helpful? This is my first time owning an RV and as such I'm a little nervous as its going to be a bit of a learning curve for me.

    Thanks!

    Amy

  5. Hi All!

I'm going to go look at a 1986 Sunrader for sale in PA this Thursday. I've spoken to the owner a few times and its seems like it could be the rig I'm looking for... good mechanically, but poor inside the coach (which is a-okay with me as I want to gut it anyway).

I've been lurking around the forums for awhile here just trying to absorb all the knowledge and was curious if any of ya'll live in northern PA and would care to meet up?

    Wish me luck!! 🤩

    Amy
