  1. You're gonna wanna get one of those spray foam guns it's a handheld metal gun and we found that loctite spray foam is the best at adhering the fiberglass siding to the new wood sticks and we also adhered the new Styrofoam insuallation to the fiber glass wall with the loctite foam as well.
  2. I went with a Pioneer Avic-850BT with built in Navigation and the Pioneer backup camera hard wired. I have the rear bathroom model. and put my camera above my back window. ran the wire from outside into my bathroom over head cabinet to the closet and out the bottom then ran it to the front up through the Trans sifter. I love mine. I tied it into my reverse lights so it comes on automatically. I also ran PIAA fog lights in the back that turns on automatically when i put it in revers or hit the switch for backing up at night. I love it makes backing up 10x easier.
  3. went for another 20 mile ride yesterday evening and the rig ran great again no issues. At this point im going to say it was air in the fuel line/rail or maybe one of the connectors to the TPS or injector something was wet not making a good connection. Im keeping my fingers crossed it doesn't ever happen again.
  4. so the floor isn't just a solid piece of plywood. its two thinner pieces with foam sandwiched between them. considering i've been in your same shoes prior. if the floor is in great shape i wouldn't mess with you you wont get it that good again. if you need to redo the wood along the bottom, what i would do is pull everything all the exterior wall or as much as possible. i would then remove the J-rails along the bottom and up the side leaving the top attached and i would simply lift the wall SOME to expose the bottom edge. the reason you dont want to remove the whole wall is its two pieces seamed together and it puts alot of stress on the seam its also heavy, bulky and very hard to get back up in that perfect spot.
  5. I have a 85/86 Dolphin and i ended up going with a Dometic bag awning. for a couple reasons. its lighter then the big metal awnings. its easier to install. (at least mine was) I also found mine brand new on craigslist for 45 bucks in the box still. Its been installed now for a good year and its nice to have and when its put away i dont even know its there. they come in many different sizes and colors. just my two cents.
  6. well folks. I got my gauges installed. it turned out to be a giant PAIN IN THE behind. and i'm still sore over it. When i went to pull off my thermostat housing the bolt broke. :/ then i went to drill out the bolt and the drill bit snapped, leaving me basically screwed. I had to order a new lower intake. the first lower intake i got wasn't the same. it was missing a port of some sort of Tempt switch. So i ordered a second lower intake and this one was correct. since i had it all apart I figured i might as well clean is all up and paint it. I also figured since i got the fuel rail off i night as well get new injectors. I went with LC Engineering, original Toyota flow matched injectors. so new gaskets and i got it all back together. i was able to install the rest of the gauges pretty easy. the Trans Temp gauge i did go with 2 sending unites ran to a switch and it works good and its nice to know whats coming out and whats going in (temp wise) but i have ran into a hiccup. its happened 3 times now since the job has been done. the 1st drive after the work, it drove fine. maybe went 5 to 10 miles. the 2nd drive after about 8 miles i had to stop for the road work for about 4 min when i went to take off my rig started backfiring out the intake and lots of hesitation. it lasted about 5 to 10 seconds then ran fine. the 3rd drive ( the next day on my lunch) I took it for a ride to try and recreate the problem but it ran great not issues lots of power perfect run. the 4th drive (that same night) I couldn't even make it out of my driveway from the moment i fired it up ran like poo backfiring full of hesitation. I shut it off for the night. the 5th, 6th and 7th drive now it has ran perfect and hasn't done it anymore, but now i'm a little spooked about taking it on the road for a serious trip. I hate to be 150 miles from home and break down. I've double checked my vac lines all seem good and in place with tight connections, my plug wire are almost new same with plugs within the last year. MY TPS ohms out ok. I just don't understand how it can run like a champ one moment then run like its damn near dead the next. I was wondering maybe air in the fuel rail that had to work its way out? because like i said i've gone about 40 miles now and its run great. stop and go traffic, up hill, down hill open road you name it.
  7. pat, Let us know what the shop says im curious to know what your problem was. Hope you get it running like a top.
  8. i went to pik n pull here in Sparks, NV and found seats out of a early 90 Toyota Celica. they are like brand new and they are a lower profile seat. and with a little muscle they fit in without modifications. also what a lot of people don't know is seats from pik n pull are cheap, anything with foam is cheap because if they don't sell it they have to pay big bucks to recycle it. My new seats sit a good inch maybe a little more lower. and they are more supportive. I love them. hope that helps.
  9. ill have to take another look at this. ill be going under the rig pretty soon. any idea if you can you a switch to switch between 2 senders?
  10. I have a overheat light, but i don't think my 85/86 actually has a bulb to even light up. it never has lit up. But yes id like to know the actual degrees
  11. Hi all, I hope all of you have been well. I have a question. I just ordered a set of gauges. one being a Trans Temp gauge . I started thinking do you install the sending unit (sensor) prior to the cool or after? and then i thought why not both. anyone know if i can wire up two sending units (sensors) one when the fluid leaves the trans and another where the fluid enters the trans. then running the signal wire to a 3 way toggle switch and toggle from the in and out seeing both temps when needed on the one gauge. anyone ever heard of doing that?
  12. how hard is the job? I just got off the phone with my brother who also has a 93 dolphin 550 model and asked him how many miles he has on his. He has 93k and doesn't know if the belt has been changed or not. we have a mechanic buddy who said the job is a real pain in the As*. looks much harder than my 22re lol .
  13. i thought the smaller models didn't need to 6 lug FF
  14. let me add not high by much, id try to hustle him down to 5k and that's if when you walk through it its as nice in person as the photos.
  15. one thing I found when looking at Toyota RV's is a picture isn't worth a thousand words. since I've bought mine 4 years ago or so i've looked at many and my family and friends have bought 4 of them. pictures are deceiving. you really need to be in person, and when they say everything works no it don't. it worked years ago lol. I always asked when was the last time you used the fridge or the water heater and so on. because if its sat for a period of time likely something isn't going to work right. with being said to me from Reno 6500 seems high.
  16. I wanted to chime in here. I have a cold air intake I put that on first about 6 months ago. I cant say I didn't noticed much of a difference in power or gas mileage. I also just installed a LC header long tube. I can say with absolute certainty that it does give you noticeable power. from take off to top end. It also helped with gas mileage. I just took my rig up to Emerald Pools this last weekend and it scooted right up those hills. for once I found myself gaining speed lol. I was stoked. I was loaded too. I will add this. LC Engineering claims to have a drop in header which they do in a way but for 500 bucks it should fit better. I will have to do some tinkering because under certain load conditions (Rarely) it will tap the frame at the collector. if this would be a perfect fit with no problems id tell everyone to install one. especially if you have a 4 Cylinder the extra power is really priceless in these rigs.
  17. Yea I know. I go 24 to 36 hours beforehand
  18. Fired up my 3 way fridge again on Wednesday. Come this morning ice cold. Haven't changed anything. Parked in the same spot. Running on AC same as last time when it wouldnt get cold. Dont understand.
  19. Well problem is fixed. So he brought the furnace over and we tested the solenoids they would open and close fine ohms were in range. We did notice with solenoids open you could blow through them for about 3 sec then it would clog up. I put some compressed air through the gas line and it took air for about 3 sec and clogged up. Did that a few times and then we heard something shoot through, and air could flow. Even blew out a lot of dust at that point. Hooked it back up and it works great. Something got clogged in the gas line.
