I upgraded to the 3.4 and transmission that came with it. The additional power was great but for mileage it was maybe two more MPG than the 3.0.

Toyota's 3.4 (5VZ-FE) has also been done a few times here, I believe, and is considered a very good swap for the 3VZE. (Would like to do this myself sometime!)
