bufbooth
Hello, The fire place or small wood stove might prove to be a bit risky, in the past (1880s to 1940s) most deaths on a train occured from the wood stove tipping over and catching the inside of the cars on fire. In addition, you are going to add some weight (a few hundred pounds) plus the weight of the wood to a motorhome that is probably on the edge of being over weight. Also, you always run the risk of a vent/chimmey fire. If your coach heater is not working or too expensive to fix, I would go with an UL rated electric heater with a built-in themostat, and be sure to have a CO2 detector in your coach, regardless of the heater you are using, air vents can get clogged up. Do not be temped in using any LP type heater, they can get too hot, they put out CO2, are a fire danger, and any LP appliance needs to have a proper vent (CO2 needs to be vented to the outside of the coach.). Also, using the stove or oven for heat is dangerous too, they put out CO2 that can kill. When used for cooking, the amount of CO2 is low, but for several hours will you sleep can produce enough CO2 to kill. Dennis...
