nhcamper
Hi All, I am replacing the water pump on my 77' Chinook this week and I am looking for any help to make this as painless as possible. I ordered a new Cardone water pump not a rebuild. I plan on replacing the belts at the same time any other parts I should replace to save myself a headake later on? The radiator is in good shape so I don't need to remove it if it is not nessecary to change the water pump. Thanks for your help. JamisonWorkshop
Shoot you a reply here as well. Only thing I would also check is the thermostat. Not totally necessary, but good piece of mind. How do you know the pump is bad. Weeping out of the bottom? Make sure that is the culprit as well.
nhcamper
The shaft has been sloppy for a while and it finally gave out the other day. It sounded like a deisel just before it started leaking coolent out the bottom. I think it is a pretty straight forward RandR but I was just looking for some reassurance before I took it apart. I replaced the thermostat in the spring. I will post a reply on how the fix went Wen. or Thur. Thanks for the reply. Tim
