Roy in Jax
Well decided to tackle the left front fender in the engine compartment on my Nissan Sunrader. There was a little rust covering my battery tray and I decided to remove tray and patch what ever rust was under the tray. The battery tray was spot welded to the inner fender, had to grind and chisel welds off. I used a grinder on the rust then primed the affected area and patched holes with sheetmetal. Painted inner fender white and built new battery tray out of aluminum and attached a plastic holddown tray on top of the aluminum. I used stainless hardware to attach to inner fender. Hope to get a few more years out of this fender. Roy in Jax Nissan Sunrader
Derek up North
Mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum. Too many dissimilar metals for my liking (galvanic corrosion). I'd have made the tray out of mild steel and used steel (zinc plated/yellow chromate) fasteners instead. But it looks very nicely done.
