check engine light - no power to A/C, Fan, radio, ect

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

When I start the engine up, the check engine and the brake-on red lights will

Stay on until I rev the engine up. While these lights are on, the radio, fan, and

A/C does not get any power. This just started happening a week or two ago.

I currently have the coach battery disconnected, if that matters.

Any suggestions on what might be happening?

Thanks,

Dennis…

Just the same - keep an eye on the situation. I had both lights on as well, and eventually my battery stopped charging. Using a voltmeter, I discovered that the alternator wasn't putting out enough juice. It can take a long time for an alternator to 'slowly die'. 3 times I got stranded during a couple different trips.

After changing the alternator, the battery charged fine and the battery light went out. But the brake light was still on. However, I just grabbed the emergency brake handle, pulled it out, and shoved it back all the way in. The brake light shut off and has been off since.

This isn't to say you didn't resolve your problem - just that electrical is tricky with these rigs with aall the aftermarket stuff added. Good luck and happy camping!
