Derek up North
You were better off not knowing. The Renault powertrain has a nasty reputation. There was also an earlier diesel version. A lot have been converted to Chrysler 3.3 V6 engines and transmissions. The 'expanding' bathroom/shower is an interesting concept.
David S
Those have a terrible transmission and impossible to get replaced for a reasonable amount.
Maineah
When they first came out I was a shop manager for a large transmission shop. The local dealer sent one to us (on the hook) along with a new transmission in a crate our guys got the unit in (no easy task) and guess what it did not work! I checked it out and found the check transmission light on--it had a blown fuse. We did not perform a post mortem on the old trans but I did find out that if there is no power the transmission defaulted to high gear! Yep when I tried it out after the install it tried to move in top gear it would go backwards and forward in 3rd. So I had to guess the old trans was cooked too bad it only had 73 miles on it. I'll never know if a fuse would have fixed it but we did what they asked. Another interesting thing the engine was covered with motor oil leaks every where did not make me want to buy one. The only ones I see now are usually in back yards rotting away.
Derek up North
The same basic camper/MH layout eventually evolved into the VW based Winnebago Rialta with it's own set of problems. Another 'orphan'! http://www.winnebago.../1995Rialta.pdf
