outside
Hi everyone, I noticed that the silicone seal around my rooftop AC unit is cracked and i can see aluminum under there. Should i be worried about water damage or is this silicone just extra protection. I know the rest of the roof looks to be sealed very well. thanx
bufbooth
Hello, I am going to take a guess here, I think the reason someone added sealant around the outside of the A/C unit was because the A/C gasket was leaking, instead of pulling the A/C unit and replacing the gasket they just added sealant. outside
Thanks for Reply. I guess the silicone is redundant. I understand it's not necessary as long as gasket is in good condition and unit bolts are tight. No water damage found.
