Fill Fresh water tank from City Water connection

Recommended Posts

A nice thing about this mod, if you already have a hose hooked up to the City Water connection, you don't need to disconnect it to fill your water tank. Just open the valve, and wait for the tank to fill, then reclose the valve.

WARNING - Open the Tank fill door and remove the fill cap, this will provide adequate venting of the tank when filling using the City water method.

This diagram shows how water flows from the tank when using the water pump.

The modification adds a "T" in the PEX pipe just as it comes out of the pump on the left.

On the bottom of the T, a high pressure flexible hose (Toilet tank supply hose) connects to a ball valve.

The other side of the ball valve connects to a low pressure hose. (barb fittings)

The other end of the low pressure hose connects to a "T" that's installed at the water tank hose that feeds the right side of water pump.

Couple notes:

1) the left side of the pump (and the left side of the valve) is high pressure (40-60psi) don't use barb fittings.

The right side is low pressure and you can use barb fittings.

2) WARNING - When filling the tank from the City Water connection, the Tank must be vented or it could burst. I open the "Tank Fill" door, and remove the tank fill cover. Watch the tank level, mine takes about 2-3 minutes to fill.
