86rader
Hi, Do any of you tow with a 91 v6 odyssey. My aluminum boat is 3000# total? Way too heavy, IMO. I can see towing 500 lbs with that rig without issues. I think towing 1000 lbs is REALLY pushing it. 3000? No way. If it was a fairly level 5 mile ride and you did it when there was no traffic, just to get your boat to the lake for the season, I suppose you might get away with it, but, it would make way more sense to rent/borrow a truck for the day to do that. Even if you overlook the braking/drivetrain issues, that is a oooo of a lot of weight to hang off a bumper that doesn't have much holding it on in the first place. Pluvrr
I have an '89 Toyota Dolphin Mini - 21' - can I tow ANYTHING at all? I'd really like to tow a scooter or something if I needed to.
86rader
Scooters or light motorcycles are OK on a light trailer, IMO. The previous owner of my Odyssey towed a DRZ400 without any trouble.
bufbooth
I had a friend that had a 1990 Odyssey that wanted to tow his full size motorcycle, I helped him locate a light weight alumimun trailer (weighted just over 100 pounds)in order to keep the weight down. He had a hard time finding someone to weld a trailer hitch, in the end he had to find a private (non-commerical) welder to do the job. Any hitch has to be welded to the frame of the truck, which means one has to go in about three feet. It worked out for him, but one has to realize it is added push weight to the braking system. Maineah
Bumpers are held on with sheet metal. 3,000# is way over the top even 500# with a proper hitch probably is. Pretty much the MH is right at max just getting it's self around same goes for stopping it. Load it up ready to go camping then weigh it and I'll bet you are over the GVW with just the MH
