we blew the head gasket in our Granville the second time we had it out last summer and I have spent all winter looking for someone to fix it. Either they won't touch it because it is a Toyota or because it is a MH. I'm running out of options and really hate to have it sit for another year before I will have time to do it myself. I live just north of Detroit (hence the whole Toyota problem).

TIA

Amy

Have you contacted all the Toyota dealers in your area?

Be sure to tell them the engine and cab of the truck is 100% stock

and that your height is under 10 feet.

yes I did they laughed at me. I have called every shop in a 25 mile radius including a few truck stops and no one wants to touch this

Is your Granville a 22RE (4 cylinder) or a V6?

How far 'just North' of Detroit are you? I used to live 'just South'. Windsor.

it"s the 22RE no turbo with the 3 speed auto transmission (so my hubby can drive it).

we are about 15 miles north of the city line on the boarder of Oakland and Macomb counties.

Just about every where there are people that specialize in Toyota repair there is nothing special about the MH it's just a tall pickup. Some one should be able to help you out the only reason any one would even need to be under it is to get the exhaust free. Keep looking there has to be an independent out there that can help you.

Are there any non-dealer shops that either specialize in Toyota or at least imports? I tried searching and didn't have real good results but I also don't know the area well enough to try searching close towns. One would think with the horrible economy in the area that a dealer would not turn down work on any kind on a Toyota!

These options would be at the bottom of my list but what about a high school auto shop or trying to see if any salvage yards do engine swaps.

thanks for the ideas everyone. I did manage to find one shop that will do it. so it looks like we will be able to salvage the summer after all.

Maineah, the funniest thing is when we got a new exhaust put on I had no problems getting that done at all.
