Using a Toyota Dolphin in the winter

Hi everyone. My wife and I have a Toyorta Dolphin and we live in Chicago. We would like to take it out to some parks in Northern Illinois at least once a month through the winter months here. Any tips on how to prepare the Dolphin to do that? It can get as cold as -20 in January here. This is our first rv and we just got it June of this year. It has a working generator and the furnace also works fine. Thanks.

Hi--DW and I have been full-timing for 15 years and are based out of New Jersey. We have been in single digit temperatures (not as cold as Illinois!!), and we have lived in seven different RVs during that time, three of which were Toyota based rigs. Our current 92 Itasca Spirit is new to us and we anticipate our first winter in it. We will escape Winter during December and head South until Spring returns. A web-site that is very helpful with wintering in an RV is www.sankey.ws/rvwinter.html Also try using several different search engines and ask about winter RV camping and you will be surprised at what you will find. If you want to ask me about specifics, please feel free to e-mail me at chartrue2@aol.com

Great link. This topic just came up in another thread and this info you've linked to is really good info. I'm a total wuss when it comes to cold or heat for that matter, but good stuff to know. Thnx

Glad you found it interesting/helpful. We have found that you can handle both heat and cold very well if you are prepared in advance.
