Bill Lawrence
I'm having problems finding new tires to replace the LT195/75x14 8 ply rated tires that were on the motor home when I bought it. It's a 1990 Itasca with dual rear wheels. Does anyone out there have any suggestions ?

We use 185/14 load range D tires...Sumitomo, Vanco, Wrangler, Hankook, etc. Check with tire discounters on their website. Gulfstream Greg
Yokahoma makes one. Do a search for "Americas Tires" then find a location near you.
McShank
I bought Nexen 8 ply 185's from tires-easy and they came delivered to Arizona for under $65 per tire. I got an all-season tread because of some winter use in snow. I think I had Googled "185 R 14 8pr" and saw a selection of what's out there. jerryt
I'm having problems finding new tires to replace the LT195/75x14 8 ply rated tires that were on the motor home when I bought it.It's a 1990 Itasca with dual rear wheels. Does anyone out there have any suggestions ? Hi Bill, As others have said, the 185 R14 is generally used on Toyota motorhomes and are available at the dealers shown below. The folks that use 195's have noted that you must keep them inflated properly to prevent (rear duals) rubbing together. Check with http://www.tirerack.com/indexA.jsp?s_tnt=10037:1:0 or Discount Tires. edit: Tire Rack has Yokohama and Continental Vanco in D range http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compare1.jsp...amp;RunFlat=All Edited May 12, 2009 by jerryt
Allen
I highly recommend the Hankook RA08 line of tires (http://www.hankooktireusa.com/product/RA08.pdf). The ride in the back of our Sunrader was so harsh and bumpy that neither my wire and kids wanted to sit in the back; they would fight to sit up in the front with me. After doing some research on tires, I opted for the taller 195R14 tires for the rear, since they were slightly taller and wider than the 185R14. The goal was to get the speedometer closer (slightly too fast) and to improve the ride. Now they all would rather sit in the back! This link has some good tire information for high load passenger tires (not truck) for VW Buses and Vans. This is relevant for our Toyota Motor Homes and you can buy tires here too: http://www.busdepot.com/details/tires.jsp . If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area, I brought my tires from these folks; these guys are very customer service focused and will match prices. In fact when I brought my tires (4 for the rear only, all tires had plenty of tread), they just got in a new balancing machine and did not have a piece to balance the 6 lug wheels, so they took them to another store and did not charge me for balancing and wheel stems (saved us $70). They even sent us a thank you card later! http://tiredealersites35.reachlocal.net/co...a=24514&P=0 Regards, AllenL

A lot of folks on this site and others will say that the 195R14 tires may give you a problem because they may rub together on the duals. I, however run Yokohoma 195R14 tires on all six wheels and they don't even come close to touching at the back. I actually ran 500 miles with one of the inside duals flat and the tires still did not rub. I do get a smooth ride The Other Allen
ChairmanMeow7
I got my Hankooks from The Bus Depot (link in post above). I forgot what I paid for them (I bought 7 , 1 for a spare as I had no idea how old the spare was , and I know my Toy was sitting for a bit before I bought it). I forgot exactly what I paid for them , but I am going to say in the $75 a piece range.... BTW , is anyone else using Hankooks ? What is your opinion of them ? And what do you generally keep them inflated to ? I have mine up to about 50 PSI (I think that is near the max inflation pressure). I know with the higher inflation pressure , they should wear better , but I am probably sacrificing ride quality a bit. Is there a good reccomended pressure for these to strike a good balance between ride/handling characteristics and wear ?? And what about when it comes time to rotate ? How often do you rotate the tires and what is the proper procedure when rotating all 6 (or even 7) tires ???
