bufbooth
Hello All, Last year I found out that I could not get my propane tank refilled due to it's age (1989), unless I got it re-certifed. My tank had a quite a few small areas of surface rust, so I decided to hit it with a wire brush on my drill. I got all the rust off, washed and dried it, and then gave it two coats of Rust-O-em (sp) white primer paint, then after it dried for 24 hours, I gave it two coats of automotive white paint. It looked like brand new. I took the tank to TenBrooks (Indiana Propane company, Central to Nothern Indiana) and they kept it for a day and re-certified the tank for me, for $8. My tank is now good for another 5 years. Dennis...
Shoprat
I didn't know they had to be certified. Guys have been pumping Propane in mine in 3 states with no trouble.
Smity
The bottle has to be hydrostatic tested every so many years. The propane bottle I use on my gas grill has to have the new overfill protection device with the triangular knob to shut off the gas. I priced a new horizontal propane bottle for the rv last week and it listed around $220 ouch! Edited June 30, 2008 by Smity
bufbooth
Maybe it is just an Indiana law. Dennis...
