Not a 5 wire as called for. Whats the difference and can i make this new 6 wire work for me? The fun of other people's projects. Maineah Posted November 5, 2018 Share Posted November 5, 2018 Probably the regulator for the alternator. Perhaps it's an aftermarket alt. with an internal regulator. There is no #5 wire a #8 is sufficient for the alt the run is short, not real sure why they grounded it there usually the mounting is all that's needed. Hey is 38 years old anything goes!
