It's gonna take me WEEKS to surf through all the good info from you folks here. I must say I'm GLAD I joined. I've already learned lots about axles, timing belts, weight limits, cleaning out holding tanks, starting up propane, etc.!

I now know why a friend of a friend damaged his. He bought an older Toyota MH two years ago (Photo attached) and straight-away took her from NH to CA and back. I don't know what model it is, but it must be at least 22 feet and has a nice full bathroom in back, side dinette and kitchen. The first leg of his great adventure was to meet us all at the NASCAR race at Watkins Glen where the photo was taken.

Anyway, this guy borrowed a big heavy generator and strapped it onto the back of an apparently home-made frame attachment sticking off the back bumper? I know a little about small travel trailers and it looked pretty funky to me at the time. As it turns out on the way home something MAJOR cracked on the under-frame which cost him over $2k to fix. (He has dual wheels in the back so I guess it/was a 1 ton axle?)

I'll bet it was because of that big generator weight on the back!

(the other photo is of my new (old) 1978 20R, 4 cyl, 81,000 mile Mini Marage with a replaced axle from 1996.) I'm thinking right now about new tires, shocks and a timing belt but thats hopefully it for now. (?) :sorcerer:
