Hi everyone! It's my first time posting here. I have a 1990 Toyota dolphin AT 2WD. The transmission started to fail few days ago. I'm looking for used transmissions. I found a few...in some adds says for extra cab no weight specific, others say for 1/2 ton...and I'm a bit lost. I don't know if the transmission for Toyota pickup 1/2 ton and 1 ton are the same.. Is there, maybe, anyone who knows if I need a transmission for 1 ton? Or...I can use whatever from a 1990?(it would be 2wd, and from a V6, obviously) Thanks a lot, I'm advance. Will.

1989 V6 Dolphin 65,000 miles: Got a quote last year for $500 from a local mechanic, which I thought sounded cheap. Then I was in a different mecanic shop in town the other day and asked them about doing a valve adjustment on my Dolphin. Off the top of there head they said 1.5 to 2 hrs of work and expect around $200-$300! Called them today and they called me back and said they would have to replace a gasket, and they could get the shims in town, $315! And it would be done before lunch. Is there anything I should be aware of??? The timing belt was replaced at 59,000 before I bought the vehicle.. Thanks, Eric

Hello Everyone, I'm a newbie! I'm about to test drive a V6 1990 Toyota Odyssey! How sought out is this model? ~Mikio ❤♡❤

Hey, can somebody else with a 90s V6 model chime in concerning how many quarts of ATF are used when draining/refilling the auto tranny? I just pulled the plug and drained mine—looks like every bit of 4 quarts came out, which is way more than the owner's manual seems to indicate. Thanks!

Hey, it was running good. LOL -
I finally just said to heck with it and took off down the road on my first outing in "Red Emerald". I can't even begin to express how proud I am of the little Toyota motorhome. Not one single hitch what-so-ever. It was just and over nighter or weekender and I was using abundant caution and care. Watched my speed (below 60 mph) and monitored the tranny for any bad signs and didn't spot a single problem. So besides being a lot of fun and very comfortable it was also a big confidence builder too. Look forward to many more trips now. Here is a video: The Alltamaha WMA / Harris Neck NWR Road Trip

Went out to Tybee Island to do some beach metal detecting and just to chill out a bit. It's only February and the bikinis are already out. Crazy warm weather this time of year.© Butch Petty 2017

I found an 87 toyota four cylinder for 5500. I plan to travel the usa with it and my question is will I have problems going up hill with such a small engine. I will be traveling for a year, and doing my best to keep the weight down. Should I buy it or hold out for a v6? I'm not sure if I posted in the right spot but if anyone has driven one could you please help me. I really want it but do not want to get ahead of myself. Thank you!

Hi all, I'm full timing it in my van for several years now. I've gotten used to living with no running water and electric. My rig is basically just a bed and place to store my things. Simple. But not very comfortable. On the upside I don't have water tanks or appliances to worry about. I push my travels so there are occasional freezing night temps. I go to the gym or use couchsurfing to shower. I winter in warm areas and head north in summer. I have a 1992 Dodge Ram B250. It's well maintained. But needs it's second rebuilt transmission. With 121,000 I'm thinking this may be time to upgrade to a new rig. A friend turned me onto the Toyota Dolphin. I'm also learning about some other popular models: Winnebago, Sunrader, Itasca, etc. Everyone seems to have a favorite floorplan. I was unaware of the debate over fiberglass vs. aluminum body. It seems to be mostly about leaks and noise. I'd prefer a V4 for the better gas mileage, but a V6 would be OK. Though I am concerned with statements here that the V6 is less reliable?? Well maintained, how many miles can I expect from a Toyota V6 engine? I was originally considering mid 1980s models around $5k. But I've looked at some well maintained 1990s models around $10k. I'd like your opinions on a V6 1992 Dolphin with 102k miles on it. Owner asking $10k, but would probably take $8k. Well maintained mechanically with lots of extras. No leaks that I can tell. But high mileage concerns me. I put on about 15k miles a year. Would I be lucky to get another 10 years of use? What would my maintenance costs be? Would like to hear any and all thoughts. Thanks.
