  1. Here's what worked for me. Connector from eBay below. 83520-34010 oil sender about $65 from an online Toyota dealer. The BA from RA is only $25, but lasted 13 months before it went bad and read low and fluctuated. Of course the RA warranty was 12 months! Don't forget to disconnect the old dummy light switch BEFORE you connect the new gage, or you might fry and peg the new clusters oil gage.
  2. Make sure it's a t5 automatic cable speedo cluster as you'll lose your prndl with the 4runner sr5 cluster. Go with an oem oil sender from toyota. It reads nice and high. My non oem sender from RA failed after 1 year. It read low and then one day went from zero to pressure and vice v while driving. Very disconcerting. Oe m is more expensive but worth it. I spliced in a new snap on connector i got online, fit perfect. Will see if I can find the part numbers. It's tough to reach the sender on my v6. Got it hand tight then another gradual turn with an open end wrench, 14 mm i think, used the white plummers tape on threads. It's above the round oil cooler in my v6. Maybe should have swung the alternator up out of the way. Gotta tighten the belt today, as I put on a new one, so I'll look to see if I can tighten some more. Adding an outside thermometer this week with an "add a fuse circuit" to the cig lighter fuse. Put a switch on my bu camera so I can turn on anytime. Tapped into the map/dome light.
  3. Leafspring bushings and shackle before I replaced them. Odysseys with the panoramic rear windows are great! Party time! I believe they are the largest toyhomes with the most headroom.
  4. Check or ask about the leaf spring bushings, water leaks in plumbing, propane valve leaking unless all way open or all way closed, heater and water heater working, coach battery age and status, valve cover gasket leaks. Sit in the drivers seat to see if enough leg room or recline angle. You could put a used onan 2.8 in the back left compartment if you could find one, very convenient if have a built in generator if boondocking. We spent $800 to fix ours, v reg, New carb, etc., Glad we have it. Ask about coach and cab a/c
  5. Thanks for the replies. It has 2 switches. Will probably put an LED up there. We just got two small rounded motion detector lights that run on 3 AAA batteries. they're great when you have to get up in the middle of the night, although the dog sets them off frequently with any kind of motion.
  6. Not giving advice above, and do at your own risk as I'm only an amateur, but am glad I did it as dealer wanted over $100 to change it out. Alot easier than Honda fuel filter changes for sure, although not fun to lie on the ground when it's 28 degrees!
  7. Not bad to change out, nothing in the way, although was very careful with the lines to not fracture one. The dealer filter does come with the holder however it had to be repositioned with respect to the filter so as to line up a mounting holes better. soaked connections in blaster 1 day, not hard to break loose with 19 mm on the filter and 14 mm line wrench. No leaks which is obviously important to check for after doing this job! Also wore safety glasses although not a whole lot of fuel came out. Some crud and darker gas came out of the old carquest filter, circa 2005.
  8. Neither A pillar or above either door has a grab handle. There are two approximately a quarter inch holes above each door, non threaded though. Used 2 metal expansion toggle screws, but the anchor points were slightly farther apart than the grab handle holes that I had left over from an old Toyota previa which was on the previa A pillar and thus somewhat angled. Seemed maybe not secure enough to support someone's weight so I added two additional metal screws where the grab handle holes are, after drilling 2 small holes thru the vinyl and metal. Maybe an overkill, but very secure now. I prefer above the door instead of the A pillar, but my previa only had the A pillar grab handles. If I would have angled the handles down, would have hit my head on it getting in and out.
  9. On the inside of the second frame rail in, Under the passenger door. Tight squeeze without jacking up the passenger front a little.
  10. Thanks for the reply and input. Good idea on the pump fuse. Will also remove gas cap to relieve pressure but I know I will still spill some. Since it's replaced so infrequently, will pay the $39 for oem. The new one should be less pressure for the fuel pump to pump against. Never want to have to drop the tank to replace that pump; may cut an access hole thru the floor if ever need to? Got my line wrench and 17mm, off to break the lines loose.
  11. On the frame under the passenger seat. Looks like the original. Not much in the way. Have done Toyota fuel filters before, but not 29 year old ones! Maybe pb blaster the connections. $39.50 from dealer. Last one I took off my 97 previa altrac was pretty clean. Can't see how these are lifetime. Anyone done this on the V6?
  12. Anyone know if we are missing a range hood light in this empty space, which is just in front of the fan?
  13. Thanks for the heads up, I got the black rubber ones instead of the colored vinyl ones. A may put a small zip tie on each one but I doubt if they'll blow off without a turbo or backfire.
  14. We love our rear dinette odyssey. They're slightly bigger than other toyhomes. Depends on how much water damage there is. Risky to buy without seeing it first. Check out the current 4 by 4 Odyssey total redo thread on this site from florida.
  15. Found the valve at the bottom passenger side of the pump. One of the plastic nopples is broken off. No leaks though. Thanks to Dan for the vacuum cap tip. Done and the 2 hoses removed, one of which was split.
  16. Thanks for all the replies. You're right, these hoses go to the power steering air valve, which I can't see under the pump to see if the niiples are broken or capped or if there is a brass plug in the port. From yotatech, these valves can also leak fluid into the plenum, resulting in smoke upon starting and increasing oil level. As Greg said, the nipples probably got broken or fluid was leaking, and thus the capped off lines, as the valve idle change steering feedback loop is not all that important. Is pump life decreased with the clear ps fluid as opposed to the dexton fluid? Think I will flush it out, as I don't think they mix well.
  17. 1st pic is what it should look like, pic 2 is mine with the hose ends plugged. I can't find the valve on the ps pump, although it may be hidden underneath or just missing. The plugged hoses are larger than the other vacuum hoses though so I'm not sure they are supposed to go to the ps air control valve.
  18. Power steering works fine, although it has ps fluid in the reservoir instead of auto. Trans. Fluid. Will check to see if the valve is missing or plugged up. Picture from g. Images below, though not my engine. Can't figure out why the hoses going to this valve would be plugged with Phillips screws? Maybe because of the cost to replace the valve. Thanks for the help.
  19. Thanks for the responses. Per the diagram it looks like I am missing part 17630- air control valve assembly. Can't find it on Rock Auto and may be d/c from the dealer. Is anyone else missing this part on their V6.? It looks like the 2 hoses connect to 17630 but not sure where the other end goes, maybe screws into the manifold? Seem to run ok without this part but I would just as soon have it on there.
  20. Am holding the hoses which come from the passenger side of engine, a previous owner put two Phillips screws in the hose ends near the battery which is removed, not sure where they are supposed to go to. Do get a check engine light lean code. O2 sensor replacement didn't fix it. I'm guessing the egr system? Engine runs fine Any ideas?
  21. I also get a pop-like sound when turning slowly. I thought it might be the outer or inner tierods but haven't jacked up a front tire to check side to side movement yet. I just replaced the outer tierods on my honda del sol vtec as the boots were shot and the endlinks as well. The rock auto myotech parts were better than oem and inexpensive. Don't think i need the inner tierod removal tool in the truck. Looks easier as long as you keep the total tierod lengths identical.
  22. Mine had 245 hours. It would only run if you held the start button down constantly and surged. No ac output. The new carb fixed the surging but it needed a voltage regulator, rotor, brushes, etc. VERY expensive to have an electrical shop fix it, but works great now and I run it every 2 weeks. I reinstalled it myself which was not too bad. I made the mistake of buying without running it first, as the coach battery was dead. The previous owner said it worked "great".
  23. Congrats, very nice! Same layout as our odyssey; we really enjoy the panoramic rear Windows and also redid our interior. The extra inside height is nice. Looks like the 4wd version is a foot shorter than our 2wd, making it 21 ft? Hope your generator is good; had to replace the voltage reg. and the carb. on our 2.8 onan, runs great now.
