  1. You guys are awful brave to touch those valves! I still recommend draining your fresh water tank using your pump only. Never have to worry about leaking valves!
  2. Do you think you would reduce mileage by lowering your PSI to 50 lbs all around? I run 55 in the front and 60 in the rear, I Get a solid 15 MPGS using this setting but am afraid of lowering the tire pressure would result in poorer mileage!
  3. Good Sams towed me to a “mechanical garage” familial with the Toyota truck. I wouldn’t want to go to a clueless RV dealership!
  4. No Lol! It would be a Good Sams RV authorized service place. I know no one that has an elusive Granville! That’s funny man!
  5. I recommend Good Sams. After buying Grannie on the way home she broke down requiring a long tow. Good Sams pays to tow your camper to the nearest authorized service center.
  6. I agree Greg! The Maxxair Deluxe is Awesome! I mounted mine by my upper bunk. It moves a lot of air and is very quiet!
  7. Best thing I ever bought was a MaxxFan Deluxe and installed it by the overhead bunk!
  8. I sure wouldn’t put boiling hot water in my tanks good chance of cracking the old plastic!
  9. Nice Job! Never heard of the stuff you used before? Hope it sticks and lasts for you.
  10. The gauges on our tanks are notoriously unreliable! They get covered with junk over the years. You can crawl under your RV and see where the gauges are on your tanks (they’ll be 3 sets going up the tanks) and make sure the connections are sound and not corroded. Others suggest almost filling the tanks with water and added a lot of ice cubes. Then you drive around and slosh the ice in the tanks to possibly dislodge anything covering the gauges. Don’t know if they make tank cleaners.
  11. Wow Man that’s expensive! I’m like you I research for the best price also. You could drive to Akron and save some bucks Lol! I guess finding an old school spring shop with a forge in your neck of the woods is impossible? Good Luck healing!
  12. Yes! When I resealed my roof I used Eternabond tape over the front and rear seams. Perfect!
  13. Yes I agree! I have a friend who’s an adjuster for State Farm. He said they will insure almost anything but when you start a claim Good Luck! Said they are extreamly picky and not your friend. I would have troubles getting even what I paid for my rig with them and certainly nothing more. I did what Linda suggested and tried to find Toyota RVs similar to my make and model in case it’s totaled you have something to go on!
  14. Hey Oldgriz can’t your local spring shop make the springs for your rig? When I had mine done the shop made the springs to fit. They were slightly thicker than the originals. They were not Toyota OEM springs.
  15. That’s probably the key Linda. Finding recent sales for an 86 Granville is impossible! 4 X 4 Sunraders are extremely rare and easy to value but shouldn’t be used as an comparison.
  16. Duo-Therm Dometic 600 Series PENGUIN low profile model 600312.321 I have the Honda 2000i mounted to my rear bumper and can drive with the coach AC running. I’m not @ high altitude though but extreme heat and humidity. My cab air is not repairable but the coach AC cools the cab also.
  17. My rig only had 34K on it when I started looking for insurance! The insurance adjuster @ Erie had no idea how to value my rig. Their only suggestion was to find an antique vehicle appraiser and buy a special policy for antique vehicles to receive more $$ then my purchase price. Doesn’t matter that I put an additional $3500 into her with receipts and her low mileage doesn’t mean a thing! State Farm, Progressive, Geico, Allstate all said the same thing and many don’t even offer insurance for an old RV except for liability. I finally realized that I won’t get any extra $$ for my rig regardless of its condition if totaled. Maybe things are different out West hopefully.
  18. Interesting My spring shop didn’t recommend air bags either not sure why? I’ve been told that cold rearching of the springs don’t last that long. I wish I had your skills!
  19. Wow Oldgirz come to Akron Ohio Man! Grannie was sagging so much I’d bottom out on a small grade. Went to an old spring shop here and they rearched my original leaf springs in a hot forge, added 2 heavy duty leafs to each side ( I have 7 leafs per side now), replaced all the bushings and clamps, got rid of the worthless helper springs and charged me $300 out the door. Raised Grannies rear a good 5 inches and she rides like a dream! I don’t have airbags. Can’t believe how much stuff costs out West! Good Luck!
  20. Full Coverage what does that mean to you? Replacement value of your rig? Or paying out how much if you rig is totaled? I couldn’t find Any insurance company that would pay anymore than what I paid for my rig regardless of how much $$ I spent restoring my camper. The paid price is on your Title. They want an appraisal and it’s very difficult finding someone to appraise a 30 some year RV! I’m talking to all the different Insurance Agents from many companies and find your lucky to even get what you paid for it. I have Erie Insurance. So I have a good compressive/liability policy to protect other drivers in case of an accident but don’t expect to get much if my rig is totaled. Looking for others responses.
