  1. Also I just went to replace the old deep cycle battery in the side box of the coach. Well there's a sticker that reads ''WARNING DISCONNECT BATTERIES BEFORE CONNECTING EXTERNAL CHARGING EQUIPMENT'' Can someone please clue me in on this. I assume it's ok to charge the battery under the hood with out disconnecting anything. I'm sorry about asking all these questions but my owners manual seems to be lacking in a lot of areas.
  2. I need some info about the Kohler generator in my Warrior. It has a on and off switch for the circuit protector. I'm assuming this should be in the on position when it's running. But when does it need shut off and for what reason? I have the manual on the generator that came with the RV and it shows the circuit protector but it doesn't have any info about it's function. I also did a search on here that didn't turn up anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  3. I get that feeling every year when we put in and take out our window AC units. It sucks getting old but like they say it beats the alternative ;-)
  4. I called Toyota about my 92 Warrior. They asked for the VIN number then called me back 2 hours later and said it wasn't on the recall list. I just got it last weekend and it has just under 80,000 miles on it and runs great. I called the woman I got it from and she said they never had any work done on the heads. But she found some paper work from the original owner and he had the timing belt, hoses, water pump, shocks, brakes replaced and the wheel bearing repacked. So it sounds like he stayed on top of things. I just hope Toyota is not giving me the run around on this.
  5. So it won't hurt anything to drain it down and fill it with dex 6 ? I'm just worried about mixing the old fluid with the new. Guess I'll give it a shot.
  6. I'm curious since I don't know what brand or type fluid is in my Toyota. Would it hurt it to drain it and start adding a synthetic to it and keep repeating this till the fluid looks good. I know I've read where it doesn't hurt engines to switch from standard oil to synthetic or even running both in your engine at the same time. But I'm not sure about transmissions. Any thoughts on this?
  7. I just bought a very nice 1991 Warrior with just under 80,000 miles. This thing is in excellent condition. I think it has been garage kept it's whole life. No signs of any water damage like the other ones I've wasted my time checking on. I must say that except for a badly cracked windshield the whole rig would pass for new. Now for the bad news. Driving home on I-80 I was running 70 to 75 mph the 220 miles home and only got 10 MPG :-( The old boy I bought it from said he got between 12 and 14. Now I know some guys a claiming close to 20 mpg's with these. Which I've always had a hard time believing. I also know if I drop my speed down to 55 to 60 my mileage will improve. Anyone one else have any tips or tricks to stretch a couple of more miles per gallon out of this rig.
  8. I have a small collection of Richard Helmstetter pool cues. They were made in Japan in the 8o's and in my opinion they hit better than 99% of the other cues I've played with. The craftsmanship that went into them is top notch. But since they were made in Japan their value is no where near what they should be bringing. If these same cues were made in the US they would be worth at least 3 to 4 times what they are going for now. Which is good for me cause I'll keep adding to my collection ;-)
  9. Thanks for the input. I wasn't saying the axle had anything to do with the rough ride I was just wondering if the ride could be improved. Or if that is just the nature of Toyota RV's.
  10. Hi guys, I'm new to this site as well as Toyota motorhomes but after finding this site I'm hoping for some info from fellow owners. I bought a 1980 Heritage from a friend. It has 80,000 miles on it and the motor sounds and runs great. The rest of the RV is rough but I knew that going in and was figuring on putting some time and money in it to fix it up. Then I stumbled on the warnings about the axles on these older models and my plans to fix it up ground to a halt. Now I'm thinking of selling the old one and getting a newer one with the heavier axle. I took a Sea Breeze out for a test drive and it had the same rough ride as my Heritage. When you hit a little seam in the pavement it feels like you just dropped off a 3 of 4 inch curb. Is this common in all of these? Is there a fix? I'm really wanting one of these to do some serious traveling with but I'm not sure I can put up with this kind of ride. Thoughts anyone.
  11. I own 4 Toyota now and a couple in the past and never have had one let me down or leave me stranded. They are hands down the most reliable vehicles I've ever driven.
