  1. 1) what oil are people running in their v6? Anyone using synthetic or semi synthetic? 2) what tire pressures are people running? Thanks
  2. Last year I had an 86 Slumber Queen, took it from Ontario Canada to key west and back at Christmas. Great trip, great truck. In the summer I found an 89 Slumber Queen locally and bought it. The 86 was good but the layout was not ideal. The 89 has the rear bathroom with the L shaped dinette. This layout is perfect for me. I also really like the newer truck, more refined. Delay wipers, cruise, tilt steering, v6 all made this years trip to FLA a little more comfortable. The truck only has 60k miles on it, ran like a champ there and back. Only went as far as Fort Myers Beach this year. Great campground right on the beach there. I'm completely sold on these little campers. I still have my 78 vw Westy, but I'm really liking the comforts of home the toyota offers. In a perfect world my camper would have the genny and outdoor shower but ....I have picked up a 3000w yamaha genny, looking for a way to secure it at the back.
  3. Looks like this 47550-26090 may be the toyota part # for my 89 slumber queen. Vin jt5vn94t1k0007747
  4. Just got a great deal on a yamaha genny, with remote start. looking to find a secure box to put it in at the back of my camper. i already have a 2" receiver. any ideas? kahuna in kanada
  5. Thanks, I found another seller, $81 shipped to the US boarder. Within Canada, $235 or $270. The key is having the part #. Now I'm looking for the locking ring.
  6. Looks like I now have the dreaded valve cover leak (v6). From what I read the the fel pro gaskets r the ones to get? Is there a link outlining how to do this job? Kahuna
  7. JT5VN94T1K0007747 I just wrote pathfinder by mistake, because I have a pathfinder. The search came back as an 89 4Runner.
  8. Wow, job is all done. This side was a lot cheaper. Whisper quiet now. Now on to the brakes.
  9. The rock auto parts listings are a bit confusing. I'm looking for the seals for the rear axle, I'm assuming I need the outer ones? Kahuna
  10. I've switched from an 86 camper to a 89. Need front pads. Don't appear to be available through napa. Toyota can get them, $100 + $50 for shims that would have to come from Cali.
  11. Why is it that there are all kinds of right side manifolds available and none for the left? Anyone have advice on hardware availability? Thanks in advance Kahuna
  12. These v6's are not easy to work on. Both exhaust manifolds were leaking, right side is done. We can't even find a new left side manifold. Any ideas? The mechanic has a theory as to why it developed manifold leaks. I may have the numbers wrong but the pipe going to the cat is 2", cat to muffler is 1 3/4 and muffler to tail pipe is 1 1/2. He says the super hot exhaust gasses are backing up. The rear of the muffler has been really hot, you can see it. He is suggesting 2" all the way, with a free flow muffler. Does this make any sense? Kahuna
  13. I've started to get a mild grinding coming from the rear brakes. I've got an 89. Any advice on tracking down brake parts? Are they standard more or less for 1 ton pickup? Might as well do wheel cylinders, shoes, springs and drums while in there. Kahuna
